Does the same traditional dress code apply? I think the dress code idea should be dropped. We have recently seen the worlds finest bar billiards players in action in Jersey, and there were no penguins amongst them.....

Well done to Nigel who won the Grand Prix, his third title in the last four years. Nigel beat Matt in a brilliant final, Jonesy ran the table out for 19k and Nigel caught him just as the bar went to give him the win. Scorer Mark James reported that it was an extremely high quality final with only one 50/100 split being missed in the entire match. Great performance from both players. Nigel had beaten Curt Driver in his semi-final, Curt had been in top form in the group stages but an early miss let Nigel in and he made no mistake. In the other semi-final Matt was involved in another titanic match, this time with current World Champ Paul Sainsbury. Jonesy again ran the table out for just over 18k, Paul was going well but a missed break shot was costly and he was off on 9k. Paul was first to get them back and was motoring to the point where he was just a few behind with the bar down. A couple of one-up and splits with the whites saw him needing the 100 to give him the win by 10 points, Paul was furious with himself as he left the ball short of the hundred pocket, leaving Matt the chance to win, he sunk the white in the 100 first time to give him the win at the end of a brilliant game from both players.
Thank you to Dave Alder for setting up the tables and, assisted by Janet Burns for running the day. Thanks to Nigel for doing the formats and to Lorin for being a great host on the day. Thanks also to the club for letting us use their facilities. Final thanks to Stephen Coleman for putting in a great shift with Dave in taking the tables down. Some high quality play in all three competitions.
