Is Joe Oakley allowed to play in this as he is also in the grand prix? Didn't think you could play in both competitions?

Is Joe Oakley allowed to play in this as he is also in the grand prix? Didn't think you could play in both competitions? The tournament organiser says yes, think changes have been made from this year...

Is Joe Oakley allowed to play in this as he is also in the grand prix? Didn't think you could play in both competitions? Not in the rules he can't play, it is in the rules that over 50s/60s couldnt play in both but for some reason this doesnt apply to under 30s. Anyway as we have been doing this for other comps this year and only Joe is eligible to play in both I have done the schedule to allow for this - he has to play 6 games in 6 series to start with so lets hope he doesnt hit the bar at 12pm.......

Well done to Joe who won the Under 30s beating Daniel in the final. A repeat of the last two finals, which Daniel had won, but Joe avenged those two defeats this year. Fair to say that neither player was at their best in the final, Daniel having the first break but finding himself 6k down. Joe pegged his opener in the second leg with his break, both players having a number of chances after that but unable to kill it off. Joe eventually did to give him his first Under 30 title.
Whilst not at his best in the final, Joe certainly was in the semi-final as he beat the other group winner Stephen Coleman, Stephen was going well early on in his break game but a peg halted his progress. Joe then built a good lead with his break to come, that break saw a brilliant 21k smashed in giving Joe the highest break award in the competition and a place in the final. Daniel beat Joe in their group match, thus giving him top spot and a match v Kyle Ingram in his semi-final in which he always kept his nose in front.
A good competition and a high standard shown by a number of players.
