Been doing a bit of titivating on the most pristine of my classic and vintage bikes my 1961 BSA A7SS Shooting Star. Had to strip the liner in the petrol tank that was not proof against the ethanol cr@p in petrol we are forced to use and reseal it. That and refitting the fork seals it went out for its first serious run in five years. Full of pride I rode 40 miles to the gathering at a café in Sheerness. Pulled into the car park pleased as punch that I had got there without incident on the bikes first long run. Parked up, received the congratulations of my friends on the new addition to the group and had brekky. We all came out to ready our bikes just in time to see a woman reverse hectically and uncontrolled across the car park, straight into the line of bikes. Guess whose pride and joy was right in the middle of the firing line. Deep joy ensued!

Still rideable but quite a bit of cosmetic damage plus bent headlight rim, side-stand and clutch lever.
Paint shop estimate will probably not be cheap though as I only had it resprayed a couple of years ago, so there was hardly a mark on it.
Turns out it was her partners car so I'm a little concerned over insurance. They want to pay folding stuff for the repairs but could be a lot.
Fortunately about thirty witnesses!

I totally understand your frustration and anger - look on the bright side -
You were not on the bike when it happened and you personally are safe and well ....
Can't put a price on you for cosmetic work and a respray 😁

Blooming lucky it was not a domino rally, my bike was the one on the end of the line, fortunately it was on its side stand not the main stand and was leaning away from the next bike, leaning in the direction from which it was hit. Had it been on its main stand it would have fallen the other way and the whole line would probably have gone.
Getting messy now, the chap I exchanged details with was not the driver. It was only later when one of the witnesses told me the driver was a woman that I realised this. Turns out the driver was his girlfriend having a spin in the car park. As he did not want to go through insurance companies and pay cash that may raise questions as to whether she was insured to drive.
Poor old bike is back on the ramp for the tin-ware to come off.

WOW !!! Ouch !!!
How many other bikes were damaged ?? That sounds like a big ' CASH ' pay out if there is more than just your bike to pay for .
May be better to insist on going through the insurance ?
Good luck with that one .
I once had a car ram into the back of my ISUZU pick up , she insisted there was not a lot of damage and offered to pay me £50.00 cash there and then to forget it , turned out it was her sisters car when i involved the police .
The owners insurance payed for the repairs .....................£2640.00 !!!!!
So again i say good luck Sav with that one
Will you be at the 4 x 4 ?
