Historical Quiz VI
Have had loads of quizzes on English History, this one, like the excellent one provided by our dear departed friend, branches out a bit beyond our shores.
1. Who, in AD 987 , became the first of a long line of Kings of France, whose dynasty lasted for centuries ? 2. It is estimated that a city of 40,000 people was founded in North America (before it was ‘discovered’) - at around AD 990. Name it. 3. What, the first of its kind, was placed in Augsburg Cathedral in Germany in 1065 ? 4. Who in 1095 proclaimed the First Crusade to bring Jerusalem under Christian Rule ? 5. Who conquered China, Afghanistan, Iran and Southern Russia in the 13th century ? 6. What, commissioned by the Sultan Mohammed, was built in Spain between 1309 and 1354 ? 7. Who became ruler of the Songhai Empire in 1464 with trade across the Sahara Desert ? 8. In which country did a Civil War start in 1467 which lasted over one hundred years ? 9. Which explorer reached the Cape of Good Hope in 1488 ? 10. Whom did Henry VIII meet on a peace mission at the Field of the Cloth of Gold in Flanders in 1520 ?
1pt for each one correct. Good luck !

Interesting answers, can award 8 out of 9, the only one I'm not happy about being bronze doors as answer to 3. Will reconsider if you can provide proof that your answer is correct !
Interesting points about 6 and 7 - the Alhambra Palace in Granada was built by the Moors and is supposed to be quite spectacular. And number 7 has much to answer for, as he founded the branch of religion followed by Saddam.

Don't think anyone else is going to get the missing ones, so time to draw this one to a close too. Answer to no.3 was the first Stained Glass Window. And number 2 was Cahokia. Here's some blurb on it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CahokiaWinner: [glow=red,2,300]Wolfman 8pts[/glow]
