......and on the same theme of Capital Cities, can you name the Capitals this time of the following countries in Asia ?
1. Armenia 2. Azerbaijan 3. Bahrain 4. Bangladesh 5. Bhutan 6. Brunei 7. Georgia 8. Kasakstan 9. Kyrgyzstan 10. Laos 11. Myanmar 12. Qatar 13. Tajikistan 14. Turkmenistan 15. Uzbekistan 16. Yemen
For a bonus point, return to question 11: what were both the country and its capital known as previously ? ( a half for each.) Good luck !

You have done very well, Craig, though every time I read one of your posts I see the words "cheese and pickle sandwich" and it makes me feel hungry. ;D
Right, can't fault you on 1,2,4,5,6,7,9,10,12,13,14,15. 11 is correct as well, though you've given the old name, so to secure half-point bonus you'll need to give me the NEW name and the old name for the country as the other half-point. Number 8 I had down Astana, but you seem to know your subject, so I'm not gonna argue. ;D
One blemish - Aden is no longer the capital of Yemen, as per this explanation from Wikipedia: Aden was the capital of the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen until that country's unification with the Yemen Arab Republic when it was declared a free trade zone.
So 14 points, with just 3,16 and the bonus to get.

I'll have to think of a new location, perhaps Sandwich with egg mayo or something.
For half a bonus point, Burma is the old name of Myanmar. Don't know (without Googling) the new name for Rangoon, so I'll disqualify myself from that as I want to know!
Still can't think of the other two.

Have just checked Kazakhstan on Wikipedia, and found this fact I wasn't aware of:-
"The Government of Kazakhstan transferred its capital from Almaty to Astana on December 10, 1997."
So I guess I lose a point. I've had 9 years to find out, after all.
Kicking myself on the Rangoon question though, having looked it up. Still, haven't done too badly on my specialist subject, considering I'm supposed to be at work (not really an insomniac). Roll on 7 a.m.....

Thanks Craig, 0.5 point earned for Burma. It's a shame that they had to go and change it, Burma stood for "Be Undressed Ready My Angel" and Myanmar doesn't have the same ring about it ! ;D
Thanks for your display of honesty over Almaty. Your reward is only to lose a half-point rather than a whole one, as the info on the previous capital makes up the difference. (If my name was Gordon Brown, of course, you'd have lost the full point and been taxed on it as well. ;) )
So anyway -0.5+0.5 you stay as you are, with 3,16 and half a bonus (the new name for Rangoon) to get.

If Craig's not gonna get them, no-one will - and he refuses to google ! So, the missing ones:
3) Manama 16) Sana .....and the new name for Rangoon = Yangon.
Well done, Craig, your knowledge on this subject is second to none !
