Great effort from Wolfman, stealing Sparky's thunder and prompting him to take his ball home. ;D ;D ;D
All correct as far as cornice, which I have as "top section of entablature". If you can convince me that the 'pediment' is even higher up, so that the cornice is sandwiched in between the two, then you can have the point. So 7pts so far. For 25) I really wanted mention that they project from the side of a spire or pinnacle, but they are indeed decorations, and can be hook shaped, so 1pt. 26) is an ornament terminating a pinnacle/gable which is what you have described, so yes, 1pt. 28) good description, and a better wording than the one I have ! 29) 0.5pt only and that's for the word Wales. Technically incorrect, though.
[glow=red,2,300]Wolfman 10.5pts[/glow]
22,(24),27,(29) and 30 to get.

Thought I would help out a little 8-) ;D congratulations to the most excellent Wolfman.
22. Corona a. The projecting, slab like member of a classical cornice supported by the bed moulding or by modillions, dentils, etc., and supporting the cymatium. b. The tonsure of a cleric, (tonsure is the part of a cleric's head, usually the crown, left bare by shaving the hair) . c A gold-coloured stripe around the lower edge of a clerical headdress, as of a mitre.
24. Cornice (choice of) a. Any prominent, continuous, horizontally projecting feature surmounting a wall or other construction, or dividing it horizontally for compositional purposes. b. The uppermost member of a classical entablature, consisting of a bed moulding, a corona, and a cymatium, with rows of dentils, modillions, etc., often placed between the bed moulding and the corona.
27. Galilee - porch at the western end of the church used as a chapel for women or penitents. Sometimes the word refers to the entire western end of the nave.
29. Menevia Cathedral – think you are asking for Wrexham but St Davids also lays claim (per Wolfman ;)) a. The church of Our Lady of Dolours, Wrexham, serves as pro-cathedral; on 10 August, 1909, a cathedral chapter, consisting of a provost and four canons, was erected. b. Among the more famous bishops who held the see before the Reformation may be mentioned Peter de Leia (1176-1203), who began the building of the present cathedral of St. David's; Full transcript available on demand ;D ;D ;D
30. Clifton Cathedral, Bristol. - The architects (The Percy Thomas Partnership) spent three years designing it, in close collaboration with the church authorities, and it then took John Laing Construction another three years to build. So this Cathedral was consecrated in 1973 and the Queen and Prince Philip came to see it shortly afterwards.

Thought you weren't going to play ? ;D Have to be careful when scoring this one.....
22a is worth one point. 22b and c - well, no doubt the definitions are also correct but slightly out of context, so 0.5 out of 2. What I was looking for was b) a circular chandelier or hanging ornament, and c) the termination to a building. (It's also the termination to a piece of music, as in Sibelius's Karelia suite, but that too is out of context). 1.5pts so far. 24. A full definition, thank you. 0.5pts plus 0.5 to Wolfman as I with-held it but you've convinced me that that was more or less what he said. 27. Correct, often included in the route of a Sunday procession: a reference to Christ's preceding his disciples into Galilee after the Resurrection. 1pt 29. Wolfman got half-a-point, plus I'm giving you a half-point also for Wrexham, which I thought to be the true answer. There was indeed once a 'Menevia monastery' at St Davids in Pembrokeshire, but St Davids Cathedral is Anglican and Menevia is a catholic diocese. But it seems we're all wrong, look at this from the Wrexham cathedral website : After 89 years of being the Cathedral Church of the Diocese of Menevia the cathedral was translated to St. Josephs, Swansea, as on the 12 February 1987 the Diocese of Menevia was reconstructed. A month later on the 18 March the Diocese of Wrexham was established and S. Mary's became the Cathedral Church of the new Diocese. So the correct answer is Swansea ! 0.5pts 30. Clifton - correct for a well-earned point.
Final results:
1. Wolfman 11pts 2. Sparky 4.5pts
