We've had plenty on Fauna (sheep, goats etc) so how about one on Flora ? (You can blame this on Herr van Puebik and the Colemanator !) I'm resurrecting this one briefly...................... We heard about margo's aubretia being savaged, but now we have a spanking new garden fence it will soon be time for tommo to start digging and planting alongside it. Two points to anyone who can identify my choice of this absolutely brilliant plant which is both hardy and evergreen - and of course low-maintenance for the laziest garden enthusiast (=tommo). ;D

Of course, you're quite right, Tony, even down to the plant being half-hardy. 2 well-earned points to you.
But it really suits my garden soil which in Crawley is acidic - being predominantly clay.
By contrast my mum who lives in Horsham has chalky (alkaline) soil, and plants that thrive in her garden such as Hollyhocks, Verbena and London Pride wither away in mine.
The difference is highlighted by the opposite colours of our Hydrangea blooms: mine are bright blue while hers are shocking pink !
