Oh 1/2 point extra - thank you - yes I like cats too - 2 Bengals (Hazel & Heidi) & 1 Egyptian Mau (Willow) :) Maine Coon bit too big & hairy for me!! Cats have always shared my life - siamese, then a burmese accompanied me through childhood. Margo and I are now on our fifth cat, first a tiger-tabby, then we looked after daughter's black cat when she split up with her boyfriend (they got back together and have recently celebrated silver wedding !) then we had two black cats (brothers, Sooty and Dusty) and now have a black-and-white (Tammy) to match our black-and-white dog (Duke) !

3 are strange names. I know Novaya Zemlya is an archipelago in Arctic Russia but the other two do not sound like land masses. Ice fields or glaciers?
11 An ostentation of peacocks, the most ostentatious animal!?
13 Sea wasp sounds like a stinger so a jellyfish?
Three desperate guesses based on a little knowledge!

15) Used to be "Severe Storm" when I were a lad and on the 'oggin' would feel happier if you had said Violent Storm but I can't disprove what you claim ! (1pt)
on the Beaufort Scale, 9 = strong or severe gale and 10 = storm or whole gale, whilst 12 = hurricane.
So I suppose Severe Storm counts as 11, the same as Violent Storm.

Just googled it and violent appears the correct current definition, but plenty of references to 'severe storm' as well.
It certainly used to be 'severe storm force eleven' on the shipping forecast which I used to listen to whenever the weather was rough.
