!0 Elton John 7) Marylin Munroe ( Candle in the wind by the above) 4) Michael Caine All correct by Sav (taking EJ as the answer to 1) instead of the strange hieroglyphics !) And bonus for the link, Marilyn indeed being the Norma Jean referred to in Elton's song.

2) Cary Grant 12) Princess Michael of Kent 14) Charles Hawtree All three correct for a point each. But 14) earns a 0.5 Sav bonus, as Hawtrey lived in Deal. Just been reading up about him, funny guy but he could be the other sort of funny as well: didn't like giving his autograph, and would rip peoples' bits of paper in half.

Yes I met Charles Hawtree several times, normally in what was the Barons Club on the seafront in North Deal on a Saturday afternoon. He was often much the worse for wear. He fell off his stool on more than one occasion and virtually had to be carried home. His company was often one of the young marines from the barracks I seem to remember. He did not have much time for the indigenous locals.

A case of Hello Sailor ! To be fair, he was a good musician, excellent piano player, apparently !

9) 'Jerry' Dorsey 20) I suppose Lee Marvin is too obvious? What's hip-hop? 9) correct, aka Englebert Humperdinck (the German he was named after composed Hansel and Gretal) 1pt 20) I'm looking for a rather rotund American rocker here, a bit of a showman.
hip-hop ...... like rap, with a bit added: scratching, prancing about and shaking of forearms. Not really to my taste.

You never got called a peasant, then ! One thing that struck me was his bravery towards the end, when he refused to have the life saving operation so he could "die with his boots on".
