Quiz on 2000's and beyond Pop......Carefully chosen, as to me good music in this century is the exception rather than the rule ! (Normal rules apply)

(bonus a/v) 11 Which Manchester group recorded the album Build A Rocket Boys ? 12 Who had a 2009 hit with Boom Boom Pow ? 13 Just Enough Education To Perform is an album by which Welsh rockers ? 14 Which X Factor star sang the 2010 Christmas Number One "When We Collide" ? 15 I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor was a hit for which group ? 16 Which ginger-haired singer won two awards at the 2012 Brits ? 17 What is Mike Skinner more commonly known as ? 18 Mr Brightside was a hit for which band ? 19 Who went In For The Kill in 2009 ? a)Lady Gaga b)La Roux c)Madonna 20 What was the name of Take That's 2010 Number 1 album ? a)Progress b)Reaction c)Future

19 La Roux 18 THE KILLERS 15 Artic Monkeys All spot on for 3pts. La Roux has an unusually high pitched voice but is listenable.
The Killers are IMHO over-rated, the Arctic Monkeys are obviously talented, but surprisingly none of their tunes stick in the mind.

2. Not the nurse from casualty but someone else called Duffy 4. David Gray 6. Adele All good for 3pts plus 0.5 bonus for Duffy who's recently resurfaced after suffering an horrific ordeal. Not a fan of Adele (although she moved to Horsham) .... foghorn voice and her stuff is always full of angst. David Gray ..... in case you missed the video for "Be Mine" when he shakes his head so much it falls off, here it is:

4) correct but Daveuk1 beat you to it by 2hrs. But as I gave him 0.5 bonus for Duffy you can have the headshakingoff bonus instead. A bit rough on him when someone nicks his hat at the end and lobs the napper over a fence and it lands in a pile of manure. 7) correct for a point.

1 - Will Young?? 3 - James Blunt 8 - Back to Black?? 16 - Ed Sheeran?? Hi Dawn, You're only allowed 3 shots per calendar day so I'll ignore Back to Black which was wrong anyway ! 1) correct, 1pt. The song was Evergreen with an even better track on the B side (Anything Is Possible, co-written by Cathy Dennis) 3) correct, 1pt 16) correct, 1pt plus 0.5pt bonus as he lives in Suffolk (Framlingham I believe)

8. Confuzzled, is this another a trick question? Im sure rehab and back to black both made it high in to the charts and of course she had the hit Valerie although she was only credited as being the featured artist for that one
9. Radiohead
13. Stereophonics
Sorry if I've answered too soon but boredom is setting in. Maybe I will have to think about digging out some of my old music quizzes as Steps don't seem to getting a mention at the moment

Now for 8) ..... firstly tommo does not knowingly set trick questions !!!! I do not try to make people look silly but you are perfectly entitled to catch the quizmeister out - which you have done in this case. Some necessary research reveals that "Rehab" made it to No 7 in 2006 and "Back to Black" to No 8 in 2007. And as you quite rightly point out, "Valerie" by Mark Ronson in collaboration with Amy was a No 2 in 2007. So an apology to Dawn to whom I will add 0.5pt bonus as I said she was wrong and she wasn't. And you get the maximum 2pts for your answer plus 0.5 bonus for making the quizmeister look silly.

5 the baha men ... the only one i am likely to get in this decade, might do better in the 80's Yes, point to Gandalf. Plus 0.5 bonus for the sentiment. 80's eh ? So you were into Glam Rock ! I preferred the 90's with Hi Energy Disco and Electropop - otherwise the 60's with all those fantastic groups......... If the lockdown lasts much longer I'll be digging out all my vinyl (c. 4000 singles) and playing them !

I can recommend Let England Shake btw, cracking album. Polly visited a lot of the world's troublespots to gather material for her album, notably Kosovo and Afghanistan.
