If not the actual author of the 'upstart crow''s plays, Kit was certainly an influence and possibly a collaborator on some of the plays. There are parallel's between the three Henry VI plays and Marlowe's The Troublesome Reign and Lamentable Death of Edward the Second, King of England, with the Tragical Fall of Proud Mortimer. How about that for a title ?
Talking of play titles, a disservice was done to the dynamic and resorceful King Edward IV by the omission of a play in his name, although Henry VI part III would have been the appropriate one.
Re: Marlowe's death, killed by Ingram Frizer, a gentleman friend apparently, possibly in self-defence, following a row over the bar bill. Coroner's report can be found HERE.
