Hi Everybody
I hope that everybody is keeping safe and well
Below I have set out the current situation as I see it, with an action plan, if you have any other suggestions please let me know
First of all many thanks to Clive Thompson who has kept both BHBBL and HBBL’s website up to date as to the situation of our venues
Although lockdown is starting to be relaxed I think that it will be a few months yet before we can start playing bar billiards again
The main reasons for this are:
Although most of our venues are open for food and drink, there are the problems of Social Distancing, Bubbles, APPS, Booking tables, Indoors/ Outdoors, Service at tables, not Shouting or Singing, TV without sound etc etc
So with all of this going on, I cannot see venues letting their customers play pub games like Pool and Bar Billiards for a few months yet, Dirty Hands touching Dirty Balls
Also many of our players are, how do I say it of a pension able age, they may have been in isolation for the past three months due to their age, medical condition or due to another member of their household
Some of them may well be nervous about visiting pubs again, personally I have not ventured into a pub yet, and until things settle down I will be selective in the times that I do
Finally, without income or possibly rent from their tables for the past three months, will Tarratt Tables and the other table suppliers survive into the new year, I sincerely hope so
So this is what I intend to do
Depending on the current situation, in late August or early September, I will E-Mail the venues to ascertain if and when they are willing have league matches at their venues
I will also E-Mail the Captain of each team, as to whether and when their team are willing to start playing again
Once I have this information I will organise a Committee Meeting, and a possible AGM in early October, with a start of season in November, COVID permitting
So KEEP SAFE and we will MEET AGAIN some sunny day
Best Wishes
JT
