17 Jun 2020 - IMPORTANT - Committee announcement on completion of season 2019/20
The MSBBL committee met virtually on Sunday to discuss the League in light of the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent Government restrictions. We are aware that some venues may not reopen and some players may be unwilling or unable to play. However, the committee has agreed the following decisions regarding the current season:
1. The AGM scheduled for 24 June 2020 has been cancelled. A provisional date of 12 August 2020 has been set. This meeting may have to be held virtually or with some element of emailing for election of officers, rule changes and financial changes. Decisions on this will be made nearer the time.
2. Please could all rule amendment proposals be emailed to me by 14 July to allow for electronic distribution and possible discussion/voting virtually.
3. Every effort will be made to complete the current league season, this may require a delay to the start of next season. If the season can be completed it will enable awarding of best player, league title and runner up etc.
4. Completion of the Charity Cup this season has been cancelled, there isn't time in the fixture list.
5. The Masters competition has been cancelled, final placings may not be known until September.
6. Individual competitions for this season have been cancelled. Entry fees may be carried over to next season.
7. It is hoped that team Cup and Plate competitions can be completed.
8. Finals Night will not be rescheduled for this year as individual competitions are not being completed and team competitions may not be known until September.
9. Derek Taylor has offered to collect charity boxes and perpetual trophies from the Captains if you could inform him directly when they are ready for picking up.
I trust that you will understand why the committee has made these difficult decisions, however, if you require further information or clarification please contact me initially. Could I ask that you disseminate this information to your team members.
I hope that this message finds you and those around you safe and well. - Jan Smith, General Secretary
