A meeting was held and the following was agreed for the 2019/20 season.
League The league will end now. Winners will be teams that are top of the table now. No trophies will be awarded. There will be no automatic promotion/relegation. Divisions will be decided once we have teams registered for next season. Not knowing how things will be going forward we have 3 ideas for next season. 1. Stay same as this year 2. 4 players with singles and doubles game 3. 3 per side. These will be discussed at the AGM. (See separate thread)
Competitions The decision was to cancel all competitions for this year. We would be unable to have a finals night as not all competitions would be played. There are people in the competitions that do not want to play. This could be for health reasons, or following government guidelines where they feel the guidelines in pubs do not allow bar billiards at the moment. The committee felt that unless all players in all competitions were happy and felt comfortable with playing it was unfair to hold any of the competitions.

Does this mean that the Mont B's only win in around 5 years will still count?

Is it not too soon to cancel comps ?, most at semi stage and we are only in July. Two matches resolve these games. Why not wait until Sept for this decision ?

Very true and both semi and final could be played on the same evening At the same venue? I believe Jean explained in her post that the feeling is that some of the players left in the competitions do not want to play and therefore those particular competitions would have to be cancelled. The League consider that if it is not possible for all the remaining competitions to be played then all of them should be cancelled for this season. I take the point about waiting until September to make a decision and this was discussed but I think there will be concerted efforts and attempts to try and start a new season with whatever format the AGM agrees so concentration will be on that As I said on another post when Jim returns from holiday he has an idea for those people who are keen to play, along the lines of handicapped singles competition. He will explain more when he returns. I think this could be a good alternative to the competitions as no-one will be under any pressure to play but will make their own informed choice Dave in answer to a previous post we know for sure that Stags Head, Montreal and Pocket Rocket (Stu and Alan have moved the table) still have their tables and able to provide safe social distancing. Any pubs where there are tables near the door are not viable to play at the moment because they cannot adhere to social distancing guidelines Of course, we do know there is still a great deal of confusion as to whether a simple singles match is allowed to take place at the moment in a pub
