Some look similar, so I've taken second guesses, in desperation to get at least one point:-
1. Abyssinian 6. Scottish Fold 7. Javinese or Balinese 8. Oriental 10.Turkish Angora 16. Turkish Angora 22. Egyptian Mau

Tony first, then.......
2. Bengal, correct for 1pt 4. well it looks like one, and is no doubt a subdivision of the breed, but there is a more specific answer. 5. Manx, correct for 1pt 8. ET ;D hmm - definite similarity, but not right - maybe if you could do a photo edit of one phoning home I'd give it to you. 13. The beautiful Siamese for 1pt 14. Half-correct so 0.5pts 17. Not a Burmese 20. Maine Coon, very good 1pt. I know a bar billiards player from Horsted Keynes who had one. The vet convinced him it was very rare and asked if he could retain it for a few days for all sorts of tests in the cause of medical research. His reward was a bill of more than a thousand pounds. The cheek of it ! Vets are not my favourite people.

Now for Craig...........
1. Abyssinian Gold - spot on for 1pt 6. Scottish Fold (folded ears) correct for 1pt 7 and 8 - possibly colloquial equivalent names given, but technically inaccurate. We are talking pedigrees here, and my own black cat doesn't even get a look in! You're in the right part of the world, though. 10. Turkish Angora - yes, 1pt 16. Not the same beast. 22. Not what I've got written down here, but willing to bow to superior knowledge if you can prove otherwise !

That's all I can get for now....
except for 21 which looks like a Norwegian blue sorry Norwegian Forest cat - and what a beautiful creature....

Tony's hard enough to have another go.
8. This one continues to be an enigma, or you might say a riddle...now there's a clue. ;) 11. Same comment as earlier against 4) - ie. it could be a sub-division of Persian but has its own distinctive pedigree. 14. Correct for the other half-point. 17. Birman. Spot-on. 1pt. 18. Quite a bit further east. 21. Correct and I agree, a very attractive moggie. 1pt. 23 and 25 not right. BUT...........4 of your attempts are the answers to different ones ! (Two and a half to be added.)

Well done, that was a really well-earned point. Go on, then for a bonus point you can explain for our readers the Sphynx's association with Oedipus. ;D
Revised leaderboard : 1. Barbelman 8pts 2. CraigC 3pts
Loads still to get : 3,4,7,9,11,12,15,16,18,19,22,23,24 & 25.

Well done, that was a really well-earned point. Go on, then for a bonus point you can explain for our readers the Sphynx's association with Oedipus. ;D Well, according to Sophocles, Oedipus, abandoned by his parents (king & queen of Thebes - Laius and Jocasta) at birth, unknowingly killed his father many years later in a quarrel. Further on the road, a Sphynx was guarding the way to Thebes and demanding that people must solve a riddle to pass into the city or die. Oedipus solved the riddle, whereupon the Sphynx jumped from it's perch and kills itself. As a reward Oedipus was made King of Thebes and eventually married his widowed mother (Jocasta) - again unknowingly. The gods were upset by this incest and a plague fell upon the Thebans. The only way of getting rid of this plague was for Oedipus to discover his father's murderer and after following all the clues discovered that he himself was his father's murderer, the plague was lifted by the gods, Jocasta killed herself, Oedipus blinded himself and they all lived unhappily everafter... All good, clean family fun! :o Tony

Thanks Tony, a depressing tale indeed, though it's comforting to know that incest isn't only confined to Emmerdale and Coronation Street ! ;D You've certainly earned the bonus point, and for the record the riddle set by the Sphinx which had to be answered on pain of being eaten alive was "What walks first on 4 legs, then 2 legs, then 3 legs, and is weakest when it has most?" And the correct answer from Oedipus was of course "Man."

Ok - last go before the Q starts... 3 Tonkinese 4 Chinchilla 5 Burmese 15 Ragdoll 18 Javanese 19 Selkirk Rex 22 Egyptian Mau......???? 23 Balinese 24 Siberian 25 Ragdoll Tony With a bit more mix'n'match you'd have most of these, Tony. 3 not Tonkinese 4 Chinchilla, correct 5 answer was Manx - which you've already given ! 15 not Ragdoll, though that is the answer to another one. 18 not Javanese, though closer than your previous guess ! 19 not Selkirk Rex 22. Well done, it's an Ocicat, also known as as Egyptian Mau. 23 not Balinese, though that is the answer to another one. 24 Siberian, correct 25 not Ragdoll, though that is the answer to another one. So I make that three more points. Revised leaderboard : 1. Barbelman 12pts 2. CraigC 3pts ......and still to get : 3,7,9,11,12,15,16,18,19,23 & 25.

You're on the nail with number 3, Sav, but 1pt is all you get for the moment.
13) Siamese is correct too, but Barbelman already got that one, very early on. He's put so much effort into this quiz that I can't really let any points go cheaply. I love Siamese cats too, btw, they have very sweet natures and are not aggressive towards other cats.
23) remains elusive, Balinese is still out there somewhere and this actual one has already been named more than once !

11. Himalayan not right, this one is much more of a pampered breed - not used to Himalayan conditions, I'd say. ;) 15. Answers a lot simpler, but I'll give you half a point for longhair. 16. Not correct, the ears would be shaped differently if it was. 18. Correct ! Note the disproportionate tail. 1pt 25. Incorrect, that was the answer to 21), which can be seen is nothing like it !

Her first comment Tommo is that an Ocicat and an Egyptian Mau are totally different breeds :P

Turkish Angora - yes, 1pt Her first comment Tommo is that an Ocicat and an Egyptian Mau are totally different breeds I have been reliably informed by 'M' (Mrs Q) that 10. is actually a Turkish Van Okay, first of all an apology as i have been caught out by a true breeder. I am nothing more than a 'pussy fancier' ;) Re: Turkish Angora v Turkish Van, I pulled my pictures across from three different websites, and first of all chose the Angora then changed my mind to the Van. When the answer 'Angora' came I thought - what the heck, and gave it. Not deducting any points but you get a bonus point for pointing it out. Re: Ocicat v Egyptian Mau. My pic is of an Ocicat, and the answer "Egyptian Mau" threw me off foot, so I did a Google image search on the latter, and it looked identical. A closer look reveals that it's not, of course, the Ocicat comes from further east and the Mau is a silvery beast and, well, um, more Egyptain looking: So well done again, (to Marie) and a further bonus point earned. Taking the rest of Q's answers one by one. 7. Singapura - correct for 1pt 9. Tonkinese - correct for 1pt 11. (after a change of mind) Tiffanie - correct 1pt. It is indeed very much like your first choice Chinchilla, but that has a more squashed up face ! 12. Snowshoe - correct for 1pt 19. Silver tabby - sufficient only for half-a-point. Not professing to know more on the subject than Marie, but something I do know is that 'tabby' is a descriptive or general term and can cover many breeds. The other half-point if you can supply a more definitive answer. 23. Ragdoll - correct for 1pt 25. Siberian - incorrect, that was the answer to 24) already won by Barbelman. Agreed they can look similar, but 25) seems to have smoother fur and a fatter tail.
So, risking the fur flying, your score is 5.5pts, with 15, 16, 19 and 25 to get.
