One year ago today all bar billiard activity in Deal and Dover league was suspended.
Over half of our pub tables are in storage now with another three months at the very least before restrictions finish.
Will all our pubs re-open? what bar billiards landlords will still be there? We then have to persuade landlords (some new) to take the tables back and the players to restart.
Tables will need refurbing as well.
It's going to need a lot of effort from all concerned to get our league going again.

Chris unfortunately your league will not be the only one, I would imagine just about every bar billiards league is in the same position. Here in Suffolk there are no plans for restarting the Sudbury and District league for at least another six months.
We are unlucky in, along with pool, that our game requires a special table that at the moment takes up valuable bums on seats space.things like crib and dominoes just use the normal pub tables so in a landlords eye these will take preference, thats assuming there are no social distancing issues.
I think we all need to take the softly softly approach, let pubs reopen, let the mad rush and honeymoon period come and go and only then ask about reinstating bar billiards tables. If we go in guns blazing, asking or even demanding for our tables back, landlords may just totally dismiss the idea and we will lose another venue.
We all have to remember that covid is still here, killing hundreds of people, and it is here to stay. Scientists are already predicting another wave, so we must all try to play our part and prove them wrong.
