Q - you sound frustrated but those wild stabs have managed to increase your points tally.
Nothing for your comparison between 11 and 12. But I can reveal that 11 has a reed and 12 doesn't. Neither is 11 metal. If you had an eye for detail you would be looking at the bulbous end of 11 which helps to distend its sound. In fact, its timbre makes it well suited to the performance of expressive, melancholic solos in orchestral works and it is related to the instrument which represented the duck in Peter and the Wolf, and was also used on the track Natural by S Club 7 - which draws heavily from the classical composer Faure.
But - I can allow a half-point for your answer to the very difficult number 18) which is in fact the Oboe de Caccia - so named because it was once sat on by a female called Marion. ;D ;D

Closing this one as I could go on providing clues forever and it still wouldn't do any good. And can't hang around forever waiting for the classically-trained Elsie to put in an appearance. ::) Here are the missing answers:
