Here's a thought Clive..... How about a multiple choice quiz where you (Tommo) dont score the answers, you just give a total score for that participant (ie no-one will know which ones are right or wrong), then morons like me can use our logical mind and work out the correct answers from the answers already given....
Perhaps you could let everyone have, maybe 3 attempts (postings) only, and then close the quiz, points accumulated to stand.

Now look here, Q, your suggestion of a quiz within a quiz is over-complicated and Wells/Sparksmanesque if they'll forgive me for saying so. ;)
How I see a quiz is 1) Set Questions; 2) Answers are given 3) Marks are given out for correct answers with added bonuses for trying. What could be easier ?

Mr Chairman of the Board Sav has showed you how to answer a quiz. He has answered them all correctly with the exception of a self-confessed guess to number 6.

Sav - to me the answer to number 6 was a toss-up between the answers "bitter" and "sour". Then considering the rate at which you guzzle bitter - well you wouldn't if it was acid, would you ? So the answer has to be "sour".

Can only give 1pt for each as the answers were multiple choice, however you get a bonus for question 5 for the alternative application for a bottle of fruit juice, which could prove to be a handy tip for myself.

Thought I was an authority on D-Mob (Dancing Danny D) - well I certainly am on Cathy Dennis who peformed with the band in the early days of her career - but apparently not so.
For there is a higher authority who informs me thus :

So I will deduct a point from myself for that. ;D

Re the bonus, told you I'd never heard of them!!

Thought the bitter and sour were too similar to be correct, so guessed at the other even though the hydroxide bit suggested otherwise.

Question 3 was not strictly speaking correct. Some acid plus base reactions give of CO2 as well as producing a salt plus water.

Our science lab at school had long trough sinks the length of the bench with the plughole in the middle. I used to sit at one end and a friend at the other. He poured in hydrochloric acid and I poured in liquid ammonia. The result in the plughole was clouds of white smoke, no where near us!!

Also used to put rubber tube on the gas tap and pump air into the gas line when the teacher was doing an experiment at the front of the class and watch his bunsen burner go out, he never did work out why!!

We were villains!!
