At last ! They are all characters from an American cartoon strip called Blondie. It is my all-time favourite. Blondie’s husband is Dagwood Bumstead, very loving and devoted but useless and totally unreliable. His favourite things are to soak in a hot bath filled to the brim for at least an hour, and to raid the fridge for a sandwich made of several doorsteps. They have two children who are miniature clones of Blondie and Dagwood. Mr Julius Dithers is his boss, who Dagwood periodically riles by asking him for a rise. He usually boots him up the backside sending him on his way through the door. In turn Dagwood vents his frustration on any door-to-door salesmen in like manner. You used to be able to do things like that in those days – I remember once my dad booting the Labour Party candidate back up the garden path. Ah for the days of non-political correctness !
So, Barbelman's catch weighs in at 9 points and closes the quiz.
1. Barbelman 9pts 2. Lady H 5pts 3. NigelS 2pts 4. Wolfman 1pt
