LBBL – Fixtures Information Update Jan 5th. 2022
For the attention of Team Captains.
It is planned to restart the LBBL league season on January 11th. 2022 with round 10 of the weekly league games.
As we are all aware there is currently the threat of another variant of the Coronavirus present within the community. At the time of writing, the government are not planning to introduce any further restrictions in England but there is still the need to tread with caution. Obviously if this stance changes, then we will need to adapt accordingly.
Therefore, the LBBL are proposing to attempt to go ahead as scheduled during the next 2 weeks with both rounds of the Week 10 and the Week 11 league fixtures. Afterwards, the situation will be reassessed as to what is best regarding next steps.
However, there is a caveat to this proposal, and it is as follows: -
Team captains are in the best position to know of their teammate’s health situation, concerns, etc. and therefore if they deem it is best to postpone the fixture then it is within their right to do so, and their decision will be respected.
Such that I can keep tabs on events I would be grateful if team captains would let me know, no later than 48 hours prior to the scheduled fixture taking place whether they intend to play the game. As we also have the need and in respect to the venue managers to make them aware of what is occurring.
On a general note, teams are on track with their league program, having fulfilled the first half of league fixtures (excepting for a couple of postponed fixtures) and what remains are the nine reverse fixtures to complete the second half of the league season. These remaining league games will therefore be set as priority and depending on the outcome of events over the next few weeks the remaining fixtures program may be revised to meet this priority. Hopefully we will still be able to schedule and to complete the various knock out competitions, but this remains to be seen.
Yet again, we are faced with another difficult situation to deal with but knowing I can count on the same consistent support you have all shown to me during the last few years, hopefully we can collectively achieve some form of favourable outcome.
Yours sincerely
Bill Harrison
