BrazilExcellent effort, KT I have highlighted in yellow the spot-on answers, which have yielded you an impressive 23pts. And Barbelmans three answers are correct for 3pts. So, four have got away: One of the Indian sub-continent big five; two of Europe's largest three - yes there is bigger than Berlin and Madrid; and the most populous city in North America - bigger even than the big apple ! (Surprisingly L.A. doesn't come close, the city proper, though covering an area of 1,290 square kilometres, only contains 3.8 million people.) Re your question four, I will grant you a bonus point for Santiago, which makes the top 30 with 4.6 million people, but the big surprise is Buenos Aires which according to Wikepedia has remained static, viz: According to the census, the city proper has a population of 2,776,138, while the Greater Buenos Aires conurbation has more than 12.4 million inhabitants (2001 census [INDEC]). The population of the city has been stagnant since the late 1960s, due to low birth rates and a slow emigration to suburbia.Leaderboard: 1. Sir KT 24pts 2. Barbelman 3pts Left to get: 2a, 2b, 3a & 6d.

'Fraid the cities of Paris, Rome and Chicago - whilst having large conurbations - don't amount to much more than 2 million inhabitants each - whereas Bengal is a region, not a city.
A good clue for 2b) lies in a nearby question. A clue for 3) : don't just think of the USA itself. A clue for 6) : look at the question again: you should be able to get there by elimination.

Hi Tommo. lets have a go at this one then! 2b Moscow, 2c St Petersburg (Lenningrad) 3 Mexico CityLucky dip for 6.. 6 Bombay(Mumbai), Calcutta, Delhi, Dhaka & Karachi. Best I can do realy? Yellow highlights shown where you've hit the nail on the head (if I can say that to a hammer ! ;D ) St Petersburg does not fit the bill of being the second largest in Europe behind Moscow, but as it's the fourth largest with just under 4 million in its city proper I'll grant half a point. Also, you mentioned Calcutta as an additional one in your answer to 6) ; Calcutta - or Kolkata as it's now known - is just outside the top 30 with 4.6 million, but I allowed a bonus point for Santiago, so you get a bonus point too. Leaderboard: 1. Sir KT 24pts 2. MicktheHammer 4.5pts 3. Barbelman 3pts 2a to get - honestly, the answer is so bleeding obvious if you read back from the start. ;)

Well done H&J - you sweep up the last point. It could be argued that Istanbul, not lying entirely in Europe, should not count so high in the list, so perhaps we should class it as Europe/Asia. Also, much argument could be made over city v metropolitan area, and there are many rival lists which put the cities in a different order. Personally I would have put the top city as a toss-up between Tokyo and Mexico City if I had entered this quiz myself. This is the only really reliable one that I've found, all the others seem to contradict themselves at some point: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_by_populationQuiz finished: 1. Sir KT 24pts 2. MicktheHammer 4.5pts 3. Barbelman 3pts 4. H&J 1pt.
