Having being cancelled for the last two years due to Covid restrictions, the sixth Sussex Off The Spot will be held on Saturday 25th June at the Roffey Club in Horsham.
Entry forms will be released shortly but please put this date in your diary.

Entries are now open for this event. As previously stated this event will be played on Saturday 25th June at the Roffey Sports and Social Club, Horsham. As in previous years the plan will be to play the opening round of this competition in a group format to give everyone plenty of matches and legs. Entry Forms are attached below and also available on the SCBBA website. Payment details are shown on the form. Eligibility for this event is subject to SCBBA Rule 19 as shown below. "19. Entry to SCBBSA Closed events shall be restricted to players who do not represent a County other than Sussex in any AEBBA individual or team event during the same calendar year (Jan – Dec).
By taking part in a SCBBA Closed competition, whether or not they have personally signed an entry form, every competitor shall be deemed to have declared that they have not represented, nor will they represent any County other than Sussex in any individual or team event as defined by AEBBA Rule 47 during the same calendar year as the Sussex Closed event they are entering."

A reminder that the Sussex Off The Spot will be played on Saturday 25th June. Entries close on Sunday 12th so if you would like to play please let us know soon. The first stage will be in groups, and there will be a plate, so plenty of games for all.
Will be at the Sussex Masters and Open to collect any last minute entries and payment.

The committee have decided to extend the entry deadline to the day of the competition and we will be doing a live draw before the tournament starts. However will be good to have a view of numbers before this so please let us know as soon as you can if you want to play.
Will get Jean to update the list on here when she is back from holiday but think we currently have 27, would be good to get to a nice round 32.

Hi Dave I believe aim is to start at 12.30 and a live draw to be made on the day so assume that would be midday

Thanks Mark you are in and we will close entries at 28. Anybody else can go on a reserve list - you have had plenty of time to enter!
Format for the day.... If people can get there before 12pm and we will start as soon as all is ready, as the tables will need setting up on the day.
28 players will be split into groups of 7 and play a round robin of single leg games.
Top 3 go into main, 4th,5th and 6th go into plate...7th BFH
In main group winners go directly into quarter finals 2nd and 3rd places will go into a playoff all games double legs.
Similar for plate although single legs until get to the semis which will be double legs.
if people are unable to make it can we be informed as soon as possible please...

Saturday they will be doing a buffet of sandwiches (donations appreciated to costs) and Sunday hot food will be available, very similar to the Sussex Open

Will add a write-up, full results and list of thanks in the morning. As said congratulations to Joe Oakley who became the sixth Sussex Off The Spot champion. Joe had played superbly all day and also achieved another success on the day as he became the third Sussex player to get a 20k break OTS. Losing semi-finalists were Rob Hall and Matthew Knight, who was aiming to reach his third successive Final. As usual have a massive list of people to thank. • To Stuart Mepham for setting-up the tables on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning • To Tony Jenner, John Slee, James Whittle and my nephew Alfie who helped get the tables into the venue and rearrange the furniture on Friday afternoon • To Nigel Senior for spending hours sorting the format, which proved a complex puzzle • To Matthew Knight for doing the shouting, organising on players and scorers and for presenting the trophies • To Jean Brackenridge for running the raffle and to everyone who donated prizes • To John Slee for scoring matches despite not playing on the day • To the Roffey Club for hosting us and to Junkie’s mum Jean Miller who provided the buffet.
