9TH FEBRUARY 2022 FIXTURES WINDMILL GG V ROFFEY SSC
A request has been submitted to reverse this fixture with that of 16th March as the Windmill is undergoing a refurbishment and may not be ready in time. Now confirmed. Many thanks to Roffey for agreeing to the reversal.

Roffey SSC 5, Windmill G/G 0 (fixture reversal)
Well the title pretenders had our trousers taken down by the reigning champions tonight - a result which puts the cat amongst the pigeons ... Dick Cable 5380, *Steve King 4300 *John Slee 4820, Clive Thompson 4080 Steve Merriott 2310, *Mick Holmwood 1710 *Lee Cable 6340, Paul Jobbins 4300 *Pete Fisher 7130, *Johnny Haigh 3370
I'll leave Sleezy to give his usual blow-by-blow account, and just refer to my notes which reveal that Sniffer lost a 5k break which would have made him the match top-scorer; Kingy and I both lost our 100% records; Moose and Pete the Fish impressive in the last two games; An enjoyable evening in a masochistic sort of way, capped by a tasty chilli con carne.

Roffey Cricket Club 2 Railway 3
Sandsy 4380 Dave 6220 Dillon 3380 Lee 1680 Noggs 6630 Grant 860 JT 930 Scott 2880 Chelsea 1220 Dave 8380 (4pr)
Game 1: Dave and Dave evenly matched, 5 breaks between them, each 2k-ish. Game 2: Messy start, too many pegs. Jim pulled ahead later on. Game 3: Another slow start. Nothing going for Grant as Keith managed to get his head down. Game 4: Scott off with 1k. A missed awkward ball midway cost John a crucial 2k, Scott keeping his nose in front to the finish. Game 5: Brian on first under the 4 player rule but off early, Dave followed with 4k5 and finished with a 3k to take his second leg of the night.
Pleasant evening with the RCC team with the usual chat and banter.

Rssc 5 Windmill gg 0
Dick 5380 Steve 4300 John 4820 Clive 4080 Steve 2310 Mick 1710 Moose 6340 Paul 4300 Pete 7130 Johnny 3370
Game was played under phase 3 rules.
First up Dick and Steve. Steve off with the break left one up short and gave Dick an early chance. Dick making 3k got a lead. A pretty even few minutes and Steve next to get the balls back made a good Break. Eventually Dick made a late telling score.
My good mate Clive and yours truly on second. My break and off with 2800. Plenty of goes each with neither of us with much luck. I did manage to get them back but off pretty soon. Had a good lead but Clive got the balls back and made a great under pressure break to almost steal it.
Sniffer and Mick on next with Mick off early as well. A few shots traded and Mick got a small lead. Steve playing well cleared the balls and on a 5k break somehow left a shot in the middle millimetres Short and lost break. A tense end to leg Sniffer getting them back late sneaked the win.
Moose and Paul next. Lee with the break played well to kick off with 5k and put the pressure on paul. Plenty of goes at top of table and Paul made a good consolation 3k , but had too much to do.
Last up Johnny and In form Pete. Level breaks and Johnny off first struggling a bit to get going. Balls back and Pete with a replica of last week off with a super 6k plus. Johnny making a couple of steady breaks But Pete was away and home.
A Nice evening with the Windmill lads and was great to see some old mates . A terrific result for us if a bit of a surprise 5 . Result belied some close games. Rounded off with a lovely Roffey Chilli.
