One to wind Jock up, as he claims his weak subject is religion…………….. So here's ten questions on The Bible.
1. Which witch ;D did Saul visit in disguise ? 2. Where is the “Place of a Skull” where Jesus was crucified ? 3. Who was the third son of David, who was hanged by his hair from a tree? 4. On which mountain did Noah’s Ark come to rest ? 5. At whose request was John the Baptist beheaded ? 6. Who was the wife of Uriah the Hittite and mother of Solomon ? 7. Where was the place of the Ascension ? 8. Who upon his death was taken up to heaven in a fiery chariot ? 9. Israel is a name meaning “God Fighteth” – but to whom and his descendents was the name given ? 10. Which river’s waters were divided to let the Israelites pass into the Promised Land ?
Quite easy really, 1pt for each

Some good answers, but not all of them hit the bullseye.
1.the witch of Endor - Correct (1pt) 2.Golgatha - Correct (1pt) 3.Nathan - incorrect, David was inconsolable, the answer is well-know. 4.Mount Ararar (in modern day Turkey) - Correct (1pt) 5.Herod Antipas - incorrect, it is claimed that Herod performed the act himself, but I'm after the person who according to the legend said "bring me the head of John the Baptist" 6.Bathsheba - Correct (1pt) 7.Mount of Olives - Correct (1pt) would also have allowed the answer "Bethany". 8.Elias - the name is not quite right. 9.Moses - incorrect 10.Red Sea - incorrect ! That feat was down to Moses ! There was another episode, where the waters of a river were divided, (and this time it was by Joshua).

3) Absalom - correct (1pt) 5) Well I'm going to give a half-point as you have named one of the protagonists : In Christian mythology, Salome was the daughter of Herodias and stepdaughter of Herod Antipas, ruler of Galilee in Palestine. Her infamy comes from causing St. John the Baptist's execution. The saint had condemned the marriage of Herodias and Herod Antipas, as Herodias was the divorced wife of Antipas's half brother Philip. Incensed, Herod imprisoned John, but feared to have the well-known prophet killed. Herodias, however, was not mollified by John's incarceration and pressed her daughter Salome to "seduce" her stepfather Herod with a dance, making him promise to give her whatever she wished. At her mother's behest, Salome thus asked for the head of John the Baptist on a platter. Unwillingly, Herod did her bidding, and Salome brought the platter to her mother. So the answer I really wanted was "SALOME". (0.5pts) 8)Elijah correct (1pt) 9) Abraham - incorrect 10) Jordan - correct (1pt)

Number 9) remains elusive. As you've had two guesses so far I'll up the points to 3 for anyone who can get it. ;)

Not Moses, Abraham or David, I'm afraid.
And I would have got this one myself as I remember it from Sunday School. ;)

28 "Then the man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with Men and have overcome"
Israel means he struggles with God.
