Old Oak 3, Nomads 2 Nick 1350, John Palmer 3240 (good performance from the ex-Pres) Clive 2980, Abbey 1770 (only a 1k margin at the end, Abbey finishing with an impressive break of 980) Paul 2790, Michael 1430 (a lost break cost Michael this one) Martin 3660, Joe 4570 (hard-fought, and Joe making a comeback prompted by a red that flew back off the far cush, lipped the 100 and went straight down the 200 hole) Charlie 2510, Jim 1930 (positive from both players and neck and neck throughout, Charlie keeping just enough of his scores to be enough ahead as the bar went)
A good sociable evening with our oppos; a shame that no food (hopefully put this right next season). Table relatively true tonight but a bit on the slow side.
Postscript ........... result of the Chess challenge: Old Oak 2, Nomads 0. Young Michael unlucky to fall foul of my Vienna Gambit early on, and Joe snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. But then I had picked white both games so return match in the pipeline.

Spcc A 4 Reigate Ex 1
Dave 5010 Bobbie 1000 John 8830 Barry 1880 Tracy 7140 Les 2120 Junkie 5670 Maria 1020 Laurie 1820 Ian 6130
First up Dave and Bobbie. DC playing after visits to hospital started off a bit shaky. Plenty of goes for DC and Bobbie with Dave Eventually getting the balls back and made 2k break. Bobbie getting more goes but couldn't get going. Dave added a few more for the win.
Next up me and Barry (we always seem to draw each other). Barry leaving the one up short gave me an early chance but on and off Fairly quickly. Although I had a bit of a lead Barry got the balls back again but same mistake let me in. No mistake this time 5k and off And later played it out with another 3k.
Tracy and Les on third and Les off early. An even leg for a while until Trace cleared the table and made a cracking 5k break. Les struggling A bit Tracy added a few more for a comfortable win and her superb season carry on.
Game 4 Junkie and Maria. In her first season Maria giving it a good go and I am sure she will really benefit from game time and learn. Junkie making a few breaks but sportingly giving Maria plenty of goes. 4-0
Last but not least lan and Laurie. Ian playing well took an early lead but Loz first to get the balls back but soon off. Ian adding some more Putting Laurie under pressure. Laurie balls back but same outcome never goes when you're struggling. Ian playing really well added some more to run out a good winner.
A nice evening with bobbie and the reigate ex team and a good win just about keeps Our title chase alive.
