West Sussex | 4 | v | 3 | Redhill B | B Holt | 12330 | - | 150 | A Blackman | A Hickman | 8420 | - | 660 | M Pellett | T Fitzwilliam | 480 | - | 11870 | M Fraser | D Wheal | 1770 | - | 2910 | A Hornby | K Charlton | 1050 | - | 1780 | M Wilson | C Cox | 5440 | - | 1110 | T Pearce | M Cole | 12090 | - | 0 | M Greenway |
Happily I once again got a lift from Tom to a deep dark corner of Sussex - but sadly he was unable to provide any useful insights on the table. This was probably a good thing though as the back of the table (in particular) had decided to throw a tantrum of epic proportions throwing it's toys out of the pram like a disgruntled baby when Thomas the Tank engine replaced on the Tele by the far less interesting news headlines. Anyway on that happy note my cheery table report of the month is over!
First up Barry found his form early putting up 7k to start. Anita was afforded a chance at the break though, but it's not recommended to put the break down 4 times... Barry then finished the game as a contest with another 2.5k. 0-1.
Next up Martin had the break put he was off early. After at the back of the table Alan started to make a break, to say it was a scrappy 3k was generous but it was very important and after Martin failed to get the break back he seemed much more assured in adding another 3k to put the game beyond reach. 0-2.
Next up captain Fritz - decided to turn up tonight after skyving off on Tuesday - took to the table and he was in decent touch 3k to start and another 3k immediately after saw him to a good lead and then he got a third chance where he added a further 6k to put a frame on the board for the buzzy bees. 1-2.
At number four captain Fritz was looking for a "steely and gritty" player, and so Alex was the lucky one to go against Dan's break. This game was indeed made for those happy with the nitty gritty down the bottom of the table as both players traded bitty breaks in the hundreds with 2 minutes left Dan was 400 behind but at long last he retrieved the break, surely he'd snatch this at the death? No! The split goes horribly wrong and the white peg is over! Alex is gifted the win! 2-2.
So it's back on serve - so to speak - and next up was Michael for Redhill but this game was all about Kevin. Michael was on and off quickly and it looked like this game would follow the previous one, scrappy McGee. But Kevin got the balls back and was racing along until he left one behind the 10 and missed it. Now you could say to lose one k+ visit in a game is unlucky, but a further two white pegs in the situation has to be put in the "brain fade" category. Even after all that Michael couldn't get going and had is only stupid moment pegging a slowly slowly takey time out of the clocky break which reignited Kevin's hopes. He hung on, though, and Redhill crawled into the lead. 3-2.
So it was on Chris to force a decider, or Tom to condemn West Sussex to another shock defeat. Despite a series of maddening shots where Chris managed to keep getting one ball down when it seemed easier to pot two, he eventually got the break back and he put up 6k which saw him to the victory line. 3-3.
So now the finale. The decider. We all stood back and readied ourselves for the inevitable onslaught from Mr. Martin, Martin Cole that is. Martin, our Martin, no Redhill Martin (Greenway) was kindly afforded a chance from Martin after Martin touched up following a steady 5k. Martin cleared up to get on the break, but Martin was never too nervous as Martin wasn't able to catch Martin, and Martin was afforded a second chance. Martin gleefully accepted and condemned Martin to defeat. Well played Martin and hard luck Martin. Figure that one out, I dare you. 3-4.
So a pleasant evening at the home of the team champions and surely Div 2 interleague winners. Oh and the food was blimming lovely, I suggest giving the table the left overs - might help it cheer up!!

Worthing B 3 - 4 Littlehampton James Whittle * | 9050 | 980 | Bill Harrison | Rick Cunningham | 3970 | 3800 | Chris Lawman * | Tom Jenner | 740 | 3010 | Eric Mole * | Neil Higgins * | 8680 | 290 | John Dyne | Alan Mepham | 0 | 4500 | Dave Lee * | Dave Jones | 2340 | 3590 | Steve Beach * | Tony Jenner * | 3220 | 6420 | Dave Hampton |
A good evening with Littlehampton and a deserved comeback win for the visitors. Plenty of chances in all games, lost breaks, missed chances and in my case some very inept play.

Good win for the home side.
Another good game from Dave, opening with a 6020 break. Ros broke back immediately to chase but was always short of time. A good solid performance by late substitute Alec against Paul J clinched the victory.

Redhill A 5 Worthing A 2
Geoff 7330 Stuart 1610 John 4800 Terry 3280 Colin 2000 Kevin 870 Tony 4180 Joe 5360 Gary 3360 Mike 6240 DC 6620 Martin 1100 Dave 8390 Gary 390
First up Mr dependable Geoff going along nicely approaching 5k but broke down the game got a bit bogged down and plenty of goes.Stu unlucky not to get them back clearing some tricky balls Let Geoff in for a match winning break.
Game 2 Terry and Myself. Terry off early and after a few shots each I cleared the table. Going along Ok till my first straight 50 pot and off. Some small breaks each and a level game next break back Vital. Lucky enough it was me and I made enough
Third on the two skipper's. Kevin off early with a whip out but Colin not fairing much better. Balls In awkward places all over the table the game went scrappy and bogged down. Colin with one Last chance nicked it. 3-0
Leg 4 and Tony with a vital break against Joe. Tony unable to make the break count the game went "Cat and Mouse " and fairly even. Joe eventually clearing up and making enough.
Game 5 and Mike v Gary. Very similar to the previous frame. Gary getting the balls back but not Capitalising Mike played some very steady stuff to run out a good winner. 2 legs back and 3-2.
Leg 6 DC and Martin and for not the first time tonight spun 50 and off. Dave balls back and going Along nicely but off. Martin with not much luck ,DC balls back late on sealed the leg and match.
Last but not least Gary and Dave. Pressure off and with the break DJ was in no mood to ease up And a couple of good breaks was all he needed to win comfortably.
In fairness the table was a bit tricky tonight with the pockets extra lovely but we took our chances And a very good win. A lovely evening with the Worthing lads as usual.
