Bevy 1-4 Blue Anchor **Ellis Candy 5330 - 6490 Chris Cox - Ellis started off playing really well and built a good lead as Chris really struggled early on, Ellis had a golden opportunity to seal the leg but fluffed it giving Chris a final opportunity which he took in great style with a 5k break to the bar **Brian Muggridge 3510 - 8820 Matthew Knight - 1500 start from Brian, I got them straight back and made 5k, Brian first to get them back for not many and I finished off **Kevin Stoner 6230 - 3740 Tony Jenner - neither of the stalwarts at their best tonight, TJ having lots of problems with the 1 up. Kevin was on a close to 3k break which he very nearly lost which would have made things interesting but keeping them sealed the leg **Doug Dawson 2110 - 4310 Rick Cunningham - Dougie off very early and struggled thereafter, good match play from Rick as he kept increasing his lead, including some savage touch up shots gave us the win **Chris Brooker 1080 - 6440 Joe Oakley - Joe very comfortable 4k opener after Chris missed early, very friendly after that with a bit of showboating from Oakley Tricky tie on paper which we navigated pretty well, could have been different as leg 1 was really in the balance. Very enjoyable night with plenty of banter mostly directed at the away captain, with Ellis Candy joining Ash Edwards on the hitlist! Table moved to the end of the pub in a nice spot, played pretty well, thanks to Alan for setting it up

New Oak A stay unbeaten with hard fought win over the B team
New Oak B 2 - 3 New Oak A
Jim Greensted 6,880* - 4,680 Bob Osborne Michelle Baden 580 - 14,690* Ian Lelliott Jean Brackenridge 4,510 - 6,660* Phil Osborne Alan Brackenridge 3,480* - 810 Marc Chipman Stu Carruthers 1,110 - 14,320* Nigel Senior
In leg 1, Jim Greensted on first for the B, so Bob went down for us. Jim missed his first one up, Bob cleared the table with a ball down the 200 hole but unfortunately that ball knocked the white peg down on the way there. So balls back for Jim and he made 5k. Bob then got the balls back and made a valiant attempt to catch Jim and was only 2k down with a couple of minutes left but he left the red short on the break shot which led to him coming off the table a couple of shots later 1-0
Leg 2, Ian had 2 breaks to get to 6k before Chelle got her chance getting the balls back. She left the first one up over the 50 hole which ended her hopes of winning that game. 1-1
Leg 3 Phil opened up with a nice 6k, but Jean got the balls back and was going well until a nasty kick took her off the table. Jean got the balls back but by then she did not have enough time and ended up around 2k short. 1-2
Leg 4 Normally the fullest report centres around Chipper's game but I dont know if I have the words to describe what happened in his game last night but I will try. Alan's break and it is fair to say he was below par. Alan made 1k and Chippers looked unsteady to start with - his one ups were fine it is just his break shots were a bit hit and miss. I made some hand gestures behind him and like Jimmy White who got warned by the referee this week for his hand gesture I got a warning from referee Chelle for mine. But then things were looking good as Marc got to 4k, but he left the ball by the 50 hole and did his classic Master Mariner Cup shot by potting the cue ball and sending the other one through the peg. Alan makes 1k. Marcus then on 3k leaves a ball behind the 10, pots them both but ploughs through the black peg also. Alan makes 1k. Marcus balls back still with time keeps his break this time - unfortunately it is only 800. Alan makes 1k 2-2
Leg 5 Nige 10k and touch . 2-3
Good night with the B team, one 0 must go next week when we entertain the also unbeaten Stag C - well unless its a draw. Will Marcus be given the break game 1????

Are you feeling hard done by because Nige didn’t mention some of the other great shots. Like the split shot that whipped the 50 and went down the 200. At least it didn’t black peg although later on in the break the white peg fell over 🤣 Was a very interesting (weird) game for the spectators who were watching and wondering what was going to happen next 😮

MSC v Caxton 5-0 Martin 2190 - BP Dover Phil 5690 - 1270 Peter Vic 1480 - 690 Dayle Colin 6690 - 1120 Greg Phil 2760 - 1440 Reg Comes to something when the opposition turns up before the home team but then that's the Caxton team for you. Martin started a bit skittishly but finally got going and Dover was too far behind to do anything so looked to his summer average. Peter missed the break and left Phil with two easy balls to start his first break and after that didn't really look back Vic is improving all the time and will be really good when he gets the shots right but still did well to win this one. Colin hiccupped badly to start but finally got his cue out of where it had been hiding to put in some good breaks leaving Greg too much to do to win. Phil had to play again as Dave was away. Reg started well but slipped up while Phil struggled at the beginning but a 1500 break towards the end of the match left Reg chasing the impossible although a couple of 200 shots came off beautifully. A great evening with a great crowd. The pizzas and chips went down well. Thanks to the Caxton rabble for some good games.
