The only incidents of bad spelling that get my hackles up are when people mis-use the word "loose" for "lose" and I might later compile a quiz on that topic. ;) So - here is a "Loosely based Pop Quiz" To demonstrate the difference between the words “lose” and “loose” (which a lot of people can’t seem to grasp these days), here are ten pop hits to solve by filling in the gaps. 1pt for each one correct. a) containing a derivative of the verb “to lose” 1 ---- --- ---- -- losing --- (Andy Williams) 2 ---- ----- lose --- (Gloria Estefan) 3 --- lose -- ---- (Allman Brothers Band) 4 losing -- -------- (REM) 5 ---- ----- losing --- (Police) b) containing a version of the adjective or adverb “loose” 6 - ---- ---- --- loose (Otis Redding) 7 ----loose (Kenny Loggins) 8 ----- ----- --- --- loose (Eddie Rabbitt) 9 ---- -- --, ---- -- loose (En Vogue) 10 --- ------- -- loose (Meatloaf) Good luck !

Fantastic ! Only put the quiz up at 10.05 today and already you've got the lot.
Stormin' - 4,5 and 10 correct but not 7 (as you will see corrected by Hammy)
Hammy - 7, 1 and 9 correct. Have to correct you on the Beat's version though - I quite liked it, but a bit soulless when compared to the classic original with the pizzicato violin. ;)
Sir KT - 2,3,6 and 8 all correct. Hope you didn't have to do too much singing to get them !
So, SPEED BONUS for all: I'm tripling your points. 8-)
Quiz ended: 1. Sir KT 12pts 2= Stormin' 9pts 2= Hammy 9pts
