WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL - and it's liiiiiiiiveeee Trevor Gallienne v Kevin Tunstall Starts at 2045, two legs. Dice roll won by: Kevin (2-1) Breaking first: Trevor Markers: Bob Hall & Mark Tunstall (nee Trafford) Leg 1: Trevor 740 Kevin 100 T WP K 60 A slow start as Trevor loses it down the back of the table on a 50-30, but he now has the break back T Miss (1k up,2k up - all very clean here but a 100-30 goes wrong with the 100 rrimming out and then missed.) K 130 (struggling to get the break back) T WP (OH NO! Trev clears the balls up but the peg is over! KT is given the break!) K 8320 (attempted 10 split goes wrong as the white is left short, but a brilliant clear and KT is back on the break. 3k up and 100 splits are flying in here - KT building a lead with his break still to come. 5k is up as KT tits to himself as he left himself a 10 split, no issue though. 8k up and the tap tapping ) BAR T 500 mops up the last few balls TG 1240 - 8510 KT Leg 2: K 6050 (a perfect 3k so far. 6k perfectly and tap - it's over as a contest now) T 10900 (a lovely clear from Trev and he'll now aim to play it out. 3k up, it's a beautiful break but sadly it's coming too late. 6k up, Trev takes the lead in the leg but the bar isn't far off now. 9k mark comes up for the matches high break, Trev is playing a great pace while maintaining his nerve, 10k is up but the bar goes) TG 10900-6050 KT
TOTAL: TG 12,140-14,560 KT
Kevin Tunstall is a seven-time world champion - a super display from the all-time great as he took control as soon as he got the break in the first leg. His break in the second leg was perfect and he tapped up when he'd made it to safety. Trevor fought back galently with a beautiful 10k with a wonderful array of shots around the 50 hole but in the end KT was the deserved winner.

Indebted to BilliardsMichael for his on-the-spot updates - the most impressive running commentary since 1996 when Steve Mariner stood on a chair amidst a packed house and delivered a ball-by-ball one. I will put a full transcript up eventually (together with scores) to keep the sequence going, but at least I can now do this at leisure..... Meanwhile, I have been able to update the Timeline, thus: docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vR5zfwhzeijSVkeGgjIsysMIVg6XYOkaLrF25N7jgTlTDR-P4-ZD8AM1QajD4jElr8RuPx1QSFnMf-q/pubSo, what of the weekend? Firstly, congratulations to the G.O.A.T. for his SEVENTH win: Three awesome scores (a 19k and two 20ks) to lead up to a final in which he touched up in the second leg early enough a) to put the result beyond doubt whilst b) allowing gallant runner-up Trevor to make a crowd-pleasing 10k break to finish. Secondly thanks to the organisers, particularly Sean and Graeme on the desk, for ensuring the event ran like clockwork. And Nigel Ryall for the tables, although he will be delegating this role for the future. Hotel was comfortable and all the food delicious. Well done to all the other achievers of the weekend, with Guernsey noticeably punching above their weight, and for others who managed to provide some bar billiards non-related highlights, including the karaoke (more of this below) and a certain marker who set a 'first' by falling asleep before headbutting the side of the table which felled the black peg with a break in progress! Finally, it was great for me to go along under the wing of the Redhill Mob for the first time - many thanks to organiser Gary, and as it turned out I was in illustrious company as Jones, Jukes, Robbins and late replacement Martin Greenway all won their groups and were joined in the Last 64 by John Slee, D.C. and Anita, with Sleezy going on to make Quarter-finalist. And there was relative success in the World Pairs too, with Slee and Jim Balchin making the quarter-finals and Gary and Colin making the Semis. Oh, and back to the karaoke - some of these guys could really sing.......I won't mention them all, but if I had to pick three I'd go for (in no particular order) Curt 'Vanilla Ice' Driver, Robbie 'Williams' Mackenzie and Joe 'Jarvis Cocker' Oakley. And honourable mention for Ashley in his Tyrannosaurus Rex get-up which was scary and hilarious at the same time.
