Hi Everybody
I have just been given the sad news by Nathan King of the Railway that John has recently passed away
I believe that he used to play for the Railway and the Six Bells, both in Billingshurst
Condolences to his family and friends at this sad news

I'm deeply saddened at the news of John's passing. I played in the same team as John in the 1980's and counted him as a very good mate. (Before that, John, me and Bill Phillips yo-yo'd between the Railway and the Six Bells.)John was a fashion icon, memorable for his shoulder-length hair, short jacket, drainpipes and winkle-picker shoes. Good player, too. I look back fondly to Saturday nights in the Railway when we would ply each other with Southern Comforts, I would drive there and Margo would have to drive home! We still exchanged Christmas cards every year. Deepest condolences to Maureen and family. Sleep well, fellow. Clive and Margo.

Awful sad news on the passing of John. I only saw him in Horsham recently but never got chance to chat. As Clive has said you could never mistake John Winkle Pickers, drainpipes and his hair . I've known John a lot of years and played him many a time at the Railway back in the day. A very steady left hooker on the table and a lovely man off it. My condolences to Maureen and family. R.I.P John.

He passed away on the 18th Nov, and Maureen is awaiting Coroner's report so no funeral details available yet.
When the time comes, "no flowers please and please don't wear black".
