Mvc A 4 Spcc 1
Chris 2430 John 1250 Jeff 2190 Junkie 1640 Neil 860 Dave 4620 Colin 3500 Laurie 3380 Benny 2590 Tracy 2580
First up yours truly and Chris. Chris with the break. Third break shot left one ball tricky on the side cushion one in front the 100 this pretty much set the tone for the leg. Loads of shots each a few hear a few there. Very hard going with balls spinning out of pockets frequently. Try as I may the balls would not come back and chris made The most at the end to win.
Junkie and Jeff "deja vous" on second. Another repeat no more to say. 0-2.
Third up DC and Neil . Neill on and off and Dave with a chance but DC off early too. Neil next to get them back going along really well on 2.5I hit a bad split and pegged. Dave with the break back finally grafted out 3k and touch enough for the win.
Colin and Laurie next and a slightly better frame but still plenty of goes each. The game was nip and tuck till late on when Loz got the lead. One misplaced choice of shot let Colin in to pinch it.
Last but not least Tracy v Benny .Yet another hard tough frame with nothing in it. Balls at the top of the table all game. The lead changing hand many times. All down To the last 2 balls Tracy 60 behind. Gave it a whack one down the 20 one down the 30 summer our evening up perfectly.
All said and done a lovely evening with the Mvc A gang. No sour grapes but the top was "A Tad Tricky!!!!! "

Nomads | 4 | v | 1 | Jolly Brickmakers | Abbey* | 2160 | - | 1520 | John | Jemima | 9280 | - | 220 | *Iain | JP | 1660 | - | 880 | *Mike | Michael | 8320 | - | 790 | *Taz | Bruno* | 780 | - | 1240 | Taz (Player 5) |
Usually, I'd go straight into a report but I just want to put a disclaimer first: yes, Jemima did score nine thousand two hundred and eighty points - your eyes are not failing you. First up Abbey came off the back of two gruelling matches at the Jolly Brickmakers to face off against John. I have no doubt that several G&Ts were consumed at the Jolly Bricks and she soon found herself 1.5k up and with two more delicious beverages in front of her. Thankfully this wasn't too much of a distraction as she managed to see the frame out, with John unfortunately getting the balls back just as the bar went. 1-0. Next up the mighty Jemima played Iain - who didn't make use of his break. In fact that first visit was greeted by Jemima with a lovely 3k break. Now the stunned audience presumed this must have been a fluke - she never usually performs like this. However a stunned silence surrounded the Garland as Jemima not only added one more break of 3k, but two! She'd racked up a scarcely believable 9k - something captain Michael had never seen from her cue!! Her daughter Abbey was no doubt convinced it was her seventh G&T that was just making her see the impossible! 2-0. After that stunning performance, Abbey expressed her displeasure at the playing surface - "I'd rather play at the Jolly Bricks" she moaned, as Bruno piped in "this is a horrible table". Thankfully Michael, who had only spent the last three months cleaning the Garland top, took it in good spirits thinking 'well at least they didn't say that to someone who'll mention this on proboards - otherwise I wouldn't be at all pleased at them slagging off my home top.' JP and Mike showed that the top was clearly terrible, by playing out a game largely at the back of the table as both struggled to get the break back. It was fun spirited but JPs better start saw him over the line. 3-0. Now, the authors comments in the previous paragraph may have been slightly in jest having been told in Jersey it is not protocol to "slag off someone else table". Feel free to work out who I may have upset previously - I've been informed that I may have been worse for wear if in the vicinity of the slightly irritated party. Anyway now that Michael was playing on Abbey's least favourite table (of the night) he was looking forward to laying down a marker. Taz was on and off early but it took a couple of visits for Michael to get the break back and he added just a couple of k. After some more scrapping down the end of the table Michael eventually got the break back and with about 12 minutes on the clock he set about chasing down Jemima. 6.5k later the table was played out but it was clear Michael couldn't take home the high score bragging rights this week. 4-0. Last up new boy Bruno played Taz, who was straight back on as the fifth player. Bruno started solidly with the break as he added 700, but on his second visit he managed to clip the black peg and lose his score! Tradegy! Taz took full advantage as his experience showed at the bottom of the table - keeping breaks where Bruno could not - and he came out the winner to bring something away for the Bricks. 4-1. So an enjoyable evening which will be remembered for Jemima rediscovering her long-lost form. Long may that continue!

All said and done a lovely evening with the Mvc A gang. No sour grapes but the top was "A Tad Tricky!!!!! " Wow! Some agonisingly close games there: with such fine margins the result could easily have gone the other way....

Old Oak 3, Reigate Ex 2 (previously p'pd, played 07/03/23) *Clive 4240, Les BP Martin 3010, *Bobbie 1960 Paul 1910, *Roger 2200 *Nick 830, Barry 3790 *Charlie 1720, Bobbie (4plyr) 1010
Bobbie played well and unlucky in not coming away with a W to her name. Les was threatening to overhaul me at the half-way stage but unlucky with a white peg and then later in the game with a black one. Nick blew his opening break and Barry able to win just by playing steady really. Paul the early leader against Roger, who pulled away towards the end. The lead was 400 at the bar and Paul had a chance but the leave was difficult (ball behind the 10 hole). Roger then pulled off an incredible shot with bags of side, for which he received a round of applause. Some good fare provided by Martin and Rebecca, fresh from their Bournemouth exploits.
