Blue Anchor 3-2 Duke of Wellington **Rick Cunningham 7810 - 3700 Pete Hickman - Rick was off quite early, late replacement Pete built a lead but when missing Rick took full advantage with over 5k break for the win Chris Cox 4800 - 11500 Kevin Tunstall** - Kevin with an early 10 split but it was 100s all the way after that, an excellent 10k break which gave Chris no chance Joe Oakley 3320 - 6830 Terry Molloy** - another replacement for the Wellie Molly got to 2k but left a one up short. Joe got them straight back but was off when pretty much level missing both balls on the split. There was then a lot of to and fro at the top, neither player looking like getting them back, Joe eventually did with an excellent shot then inexplicably missed both balls again on the split from a similar position to the first miss (you can play the 50/10 Joe ) - Molly got them straight back and made 4k to the bar - felt as though we were in a bit of trouble at this point **Tony Jenner 6200 - 3640 Colin Smith - massive leg and with Tony's confidence a little low I had some concerns but he made an excellent and very steady 6k before rightly going for a bit of safety after leaving a tricky ball. Colin got them straight back and was going well but struggling a little to get the split across for the 100. It eventually led to him missing on 3.5k and TJ took up enough time next visit to ensure there was not enough time for Colin to catch when he got them back, Smithy pegging a 2k break as the bar went Natthew Knight 5520 - 2100 Chris Tupper** - Tupps a little shaky to begin with but he got to 3k having taken up a bit of time using all his experience and a wide variety of shots, he ended up with a ball behind the left hand 50 but not close enough to go straight at it. He went for one of his favourite shots off the side cushion, but got it wrong and took out the left hand peg. I got them straight back and made my score (minus the final ball in the 100), then touched to give us the match. Tupps with a late 2k break Excellent win for the hosts, with a little bit of good fortune on the way as we looked in trouble at one point. The "old timers" doing the business Thanks to the Wellie for an excellent night as always with plenty of good natured banter. Hope their missing players get well soon

New Oak A keep pressure on the Blue Anchor with 4-1 win against Master Mariner
New Oak A 4 - 1 Master Mariner
Ian Lelliott 3,610 - 4,770* Gary Mechan Phil Osborne 13,890 - 780* Steve Burns Bob Osborne 4,860 - 4,270* Bob Mechan Nigel Senior 10,210 - 2,080* Mark Scott Marc Chipman 3,840 - 2,700* DJ Robins
In leg 1, Gary put himself down to play Ian. Gary could only open with just over 1,000, Ian got the balls back only to come off when level. Both then struggled to retrieve the balls for quite a while, but Gary did eventually and made 2k break which just about sealed the win 0-1
Leg 2, Steve didnt make many off his opener, and Phil was in great form winning the game with his opening visit, then adding a few more for good measure. 1-1
Leg 3 the two Bobs faced off in what was the crucial game of the night. Our Bob (O) got in control after Bob (M) gave him the balls back pegging his opener. Bob O made 3k, but then Bob M caught him but missed at the important moment letting our Bob nick the win 2-1
Leg 4 it had to be Moppy to play Nigel. Moppy was off on about 1k. A nice 3 baller got the balls back and a 10k break sealed the match win. 3-1
Leg 5 I told Marc I was pleased to see he won at the Oak on Sunday, but less pleased when he told me he had 4 breaks to make his 6k. DJ had the break, I was scoring and missed 100 early on, Gaz kindly corrected me but I was coming to terms with the hot peri-peri sauce served with the chicken nuggets. Then DJ got his first ever 100 split and got so excited he missed the break on his next shot, still 2k on the board. Marc, who really struggled with the hot sauce, only made 1k, but then assumed control and took the leg win to seal a good 4-1 victory for the home side. 4-1
Good night with Master Mariner lads, who couldn't quite capitalise after winning a big first leg.

Nigel you can’t say you weren’t warned. My post last week the final message
(Note to Alan - whilst scoring don’t dip a chicken nugget in chilli sauce🤣🤣)
