Just a reminder of the Team Knockout matches this coming Wednesday, hopefully the venues all know. I have cancelled the Blue Anchor as the match there is not being played on Wednesday Also the rules have changed this season, no longer even breaks all legs, it is now only the fifth leg Pertinent part of the rules here:- All team competitions will be best of five singles games. Captains who win the toss shallhave the choice of the having the break in games 1 & 3 or 2 & 4.The fifth game only will beeven break and Captains will toss for choice of who has first break or second break. All fivegames are to be played. In each game the Captain whose player has the first break shallnominate their teams player first. In the event of a drawn result the players who drew theirgame will play each other again. This game will be an ‘even break’ game. The Captains ofeach team tossing for choice of first or second break.Further details can be found here brightonbarbilliards.com/brighton-district-bar-billiards-league-rules/ under E14 Good luck

Blue Anchor 4-1 Moulsecoomb Club League leaders safely through to the semi-final of the Team Knockout **Joe Oakley 11,480 - 3320 Dave Lee - Joe first for us, in awesome form with a 10,960 opener then called off for a fume. Dave made 3k, scrappy after that Matthew Knight 12,350 - 1810 Tim Scotney** - Tim off early, I got them straight back and off with a woeful split, Tim was very kind and then left the one-up short, I made 10k **Rick Cunningham 3890 - 4920 Phil Reay - friendly leg this one with missed splits and pegs galore. Phil finally got a grip and made sure just as the bar went Chris Cox 3790 - 2070 Martin Parsons** - Martin built a lead, a combination of awkward balls and a slightly inebriated "home" player made life difficult for Coxy to get the balls back. He did with just enough time left and made sure first go Tony Jenner 8830 - 230 Vic McFadden - TJ took a short time to work out you could get the hundred from high up, but unfortunately lost the break. Excellent effort after that to give Vic no chance but TJ ensured that he did have plenty of table time although the pegs kept getting in the way Sorry for the delays in posting the scores (still beat Nige though) Thanks to the MC for a good night, enjoyed watching a thrilling tie in their friendly afterwards Excellent top, thanks to Alan and Jean for setting it up

New Oak A progress to the semis with narrow win against 4 man Bevy
New Oak A 3 - 2 Bevy
Phil Osborne 8,070* - 950 Ash Edwards Marc Chipman 2,360 - 4,490* Kev Stoner Ian Lelliott 850* - 11,260 Brian Muggeridge Nigel Senior 5,740 - 2,080* Liam Barber Bob Osborne walkover
In leg 1, Phil led us off with the break. An early miss but fairly solid display after that saw off Ash 1-0
Leg 2, I put on Marcus to take Kev on this week. Marc is off on holiday and looked like he needs one as Kev took control of the game and levelled the match 1-1
Leg 3 Ian back from illness and struggled with an early miss. Brian didnt struggle and was quite simply superb and amassed an 11k score. 1-2
Leg 4 This was effectively the decider and it was Liam's break, he made the break shots but his one up was a bit thin. I capitalised with a 3k break and a second 2k break put the game and tie beyond doubt 2-2 + walkover = 3-2
Good night with the Bevy for 2nd week running, both games close with us taking 3-2 wins. Brian especially excellent. Chippers to miss the big clash with the B side this week as he suns himself in Cape Verde.....
Oh and sorry for the late report, I couldnt even manage to beat Matt to it...

Duke of Wellington 3-2 New Oak B
Dave Reeves* 9110 Sandra Hall 610 Dave went off with enough. Sandra unlucky to peg when she got the break back and Dave got the break back to finish off
Colin Smith 7500 Stuart Carruthers* 740 Stuart put first one up behind. Colin got the break back and played almost to the bar with a very good break of 7k
So now we’re in big trouble as KT put he’s name down with the break. Kevin Tunstall* 6450 Jean 6860 KT off on 6100 I got break back and touched up on 6860 with the bar down and the red gone
Mick Winder 140 Alan Brackenridge* 9040 Alan of on about 3k. Mick got break back but unfortunately put them down 4 times. Alan then made sure of the win
So from 2-0 down somehow got it to 2-2
Chris Tupper* 8040 Chelle* 0 Chris off on 2k. Chelle pegged opener of 1500. Tupps break back off on 1k Chelle pegged gave Tupps break back. Tupps off on 1500 Chelle pegged and gave Tupps break back. Tupps settled and made 4K break to win the match for the Wellie
Was pleased to make a game of it after going 2-0 down
Thanks to Blue anchor for the pizzas and chips
