Henty 1-4 Stags Head B at Prince of Wales
Stuart Carruthers 1390 - 3780 Phil Osborne** - always tricky going first and this leg no exception. Phil was off early, Stuart had no luck trying to get the balls back, Phil did and settled down getting to 5k with some good play and good fortune on the way. His luck ran out as a ball whipped out the right hand 20 and gently rolled back and knocked over the peg. Balls back for Stu but he was off before he reached Phil's score and Phil made sure next visit 0-1
**Kevin Tunstall 11,730 - 2800 Jean Brackenridge - Kevin first split thin, white flew off the back cushion flush down the 100! No problems at all after that with an excellent 8800 break to give Jean no chance. Very friendly from then on until Jean got them back and played out to the bar 1-1
Terry Molloy 820 - 5450 Chris Tupper** - Tupps excellent start with over 5k opener, using all his experience and shot making skills. He was annoyed after looking so good to leave the one up short, Molly got them straight back and was off before 1k. Nothing for Tupps, then outrageous fluke from Terry with one ball in the left hand 20 and the other flying back down the 200, game on. He got to 4700, not always playing the shot his team mates thought he should before leaving a ball next to the right hand 30, off the cushion cue ball in the 30 and the object ball slowly back and gently knocked over the peg. Leg was really in the balance and pivotal moment of the night 1-2
**Bob Hall 4370 - 4570 Nigel Senior - injured Bob taking on the Sussex Singles champ Nige, Bob started well getting the one up and split pretty easily, surprising then that he missed on 2k. Real struggle for both as the balls went awkward, Nigel did get the balls back but he found it really hard going, at times scratching his head as he missed the 10 and 20 split. He was only level after 2 breaks, then Bob got them back again but off quickly giving Nige a final chance. Great clearance and edged in front at the perfect time as the bar went. Touched up with 2 balls left and 400 in front. Bob's attempt at the 200 off the back cushion off target, good job for us it was as he got the 200 first time with the last ball 1-3
Stuart Mepham 3540 - 10,240 Matthew Knight** - pressure off, I went first. Friendly start with both of us missing early, Stu first to get them back with 2k. I cleared up and played out to the bar with a 8660 break
Plenty of chances in most of the legs. Table very good but no room for error and unforgiving at the top, very loud evening as the locals were enjoying their darts and having a good chat with me about the Cheltenham Festival (better than normal as they usually want to stab me!!) It definitely got very loud during leg 3, that and leg 4 definitely pivotal on the night and fortunately they both went our way giving us a very good victory. Thanks to the Henty for a good night and looking forward to the local derby in the final

Tarring 0 - 5 Blue Anchor @ Stags Head Tony Collins * | 0 | 5840 | Andy Farmer-Wright | Matt Jones | 1060 | 5950 | Alan Mepham * | Mike Formoy * | 3140 | 3740 | Chris Lucas * | Bepo | 1170 | 1290 | Liam Hurley * | No Player |

By the scorecard it looks as though the breaks have been played in the incorrect order but a good win for the Blue Anchor in a fairly low scoring encounter at the Stags Head. Andy had a break of 5330 in the 1st game

The Vine 1 - 4 Alexandra B @ Blue Anchor
A good evening as usual with the Vine good to see both Lyn and Nick out and before the game started my team said going to be a tough game with Tony Burgess missing and Mr Brown deputising. A couple of nice pizzas to complete the evening, thank you to the Anchor for their hospitality. The Blue Anchor with Rick away had Little Legs deputising and as always great company.
Game 1. Paul Barnett 430 - 3230 Kev Stoner *. Strange game with Kev leaving the one up short twice (Kev said only done as he had to play like Rick) and Paul getting some breaks but being unable to keep any scores. Passed the half way point and the game was still pretty even with not much scored but Kev battled away and made sure with a 2k+ break to make it 0 - 1.
Game 2. Gary Ridley * 5350 - 2170 Steve Aylmore. Gary off early but first to get them back and added just under 5k, Steve did get the balls back late on and made a 1500 break but never going to have enough time.
Game 3. Nick Brown 220 - 13200 Tony Jenner *. The right TJ turned up for this one knowing that although Nick not playing much these days he is always a tough opponent. TJ opened with 9650 break and touch. With Nick not being able to get the balls back TJ added some more.
Game 4 Neil Higgins * 300 - 9290 Pete Hickman. Neil break twice and then missed both balls when the red had spotted just to the left hand side of the spot (had happened a couple of times in he previous games). Pete balls back and looked as though very determined to kill it off in one visit but off at 2k. Neil unable to get the break back and Pete did and put in a match winning 6890 break to ensure the Alexandra progressed to the Shield Final.
Game 5. Ros Appleby * 3710 - 3950 James Whittle *. Ros won the toss and elected to go first off at just over 1k, James on his break replied with the same. Ros balls back first and added 2k before James got them back with about 3 minutes left. It looked as though James was going to make sure but came off with the bar due about 1k in front. Ros on the break as the bar went and needed 560 with the balls left (red still in play but not necessarily in the best place). Ros left the red alone and concentrated on the balls at the back of the table but sunk both. Ros falling just short when she was unable to see a 200 shot with the balls positioned as they were so James got over the line.
Table as always playing very well but a night of missed chances and bad luck for many.
