I have conceded my quarter final to James and wish him luck in the semis. This is due to my not fully recovering from recent operation, my inability to make the semis on the 8th march and my objection to the semi s being both played at the Stag. The geriatrics semi is played on different tables and there are other options for Chris and Phil to play on an independant table not one they both play as a home table in Worthing. the mens singles should be about playing all different tables in all different environments and i feel making this table on this occaision detrimental to the reputation of the competition. It also creates a very dangerous precedent. I have questioned all this with Matt but did not receive the answers i could agree with.

I have no idea why both games being played at a venue is an issue for a semi final? We done this last year and it worked very well and both games had someone to score. Both Phil and Chris play for the same team on a Thursday so this should have no effect to Wednesday nights at all?
Being Worthing competition secretary I understand how hard it is to run these things with limited venues and being a semi final stage to avoid all tables previous rounds have been played on.
I understand its hard to please everyone or even one person?.....
Keep up the good work Mr Knight

Playing both semis at the same venue makes so much sense... it means people can watch both matches of the main competition. On top of that Phil & Chris are playing each other, so regardless of the fact it's their "Worthing top" their is no home advantage which is surely the entire point of using neutral tables.
Consider me baffled, so I shall merely echo the sentiments of Joe... Keep up the good work Mr Knight.

I believe There is also a rearranged match the same evening removing a table available for the organisers too. If all leagues took the view of not placing players on tables they play in other leagues in some instances would make the selection almost impossible.

Alright for you lot . I have to drive about 20 miles for my local matches. By the 2ay one of them is on a home interleague table. The other one is a table we've played on twice this month. Hope I don't get called out.

I'm looking forward to the AGM when the new Competitions Secretary takes over, there are plenty of moaners out there who I'm positive could do a much better job

Too many moaners who do know the problems with so few venues to use and trying to keep everyone happy is not easy. I choose to play Brighton and that involves about a 50 mile drive most weeks, competitions can be further but I again choose to enter and go where I am drawn to play at. To keep competitions to Wednesdays the secretary has to at times give players two games on one evening so that all competitions can be played within time scales. Get off the competitions secretaries back or as suggested stand up at the next AGM and offer your services for a thankless job.

Moppy and I turned up to play the semi-finals of the 'old-gits' but had to abandon as the New Oak table had been molested. Ball rolling a whole ball to the left.Only after we both missed the object ball completely, we saw the front left foot on the table wasnt even in the thread. We tried to adjust, but gave up after 30 mins,as Moppy had a doubles at 9:15 at the DOW. I Spent some time sorting and got it playing well but by then we had run out of time and I then felt uneasy playing, as I'd set up the table. Please can Jean give us the nod when she has adjusted and feels its ok to re-arrange.Thanks.

Apologies for the oak table. Myself and Alan were going to pop in early evening but we’re both full of cold and it was hard enough dragging ourselves out for Alan’s match. We thought it would be ok as every other time we’ve checked it before a match it’s been ok. Will let you know as soon as we’ve been in to look at it.

Hi Jean, not your fault. I did my best to reset it back to how I remember it, but now feel I've set the table up, so would prefer if you \ Alan check and adjust. No rush as I can't play for a couple of weeks. Just let us know when you are happy and we will re-book. Thanks.

Mop & Steve beat Kev & Ash Usual table at the Wellie last night. Coins jammed in the slot but with help from the landlady was quickly sorted. Timer worked throughout at about 19.30. Kev and Ash played well but too many pegs and a bit soft. We kept plugging on for a 2-0.

Very lucky to beat Moppy 2-1 after he was 2k up with 3k going in the decider with a ball coming back and not only taking out the peg but giving me the break back.Table moved from the other bar and playing much much more tricky than before.

Very lucky to beat Moppy 2-1 after he was 2k up with 3k going in the decider with a ball coming back and not only taking out the peg but giving me the break back.Table moved from the other bar and playing much much more tricky than before. My fault entirely. Forgot how far the balls came back . Earlier, missed a split, left the red just behind the 50. Hit the red and pocketed the white expecting it to go in or near the 30 as you do. Red hit back cushion an came back into the same 50 hole. The shot I messed up on, ended up with a ball behind the 30 just to the left. Cue ball softly off the side , clipped the object ball in, . Cue ball off the back cushion into the peg and leaving the ball on the spot. Apart from that the table played well. A customer wasn't happy where the table was as she had been using that sitting area for ages. Only 3 of us but took up half the room. Shame.
