The seventh Sussex Off The Spot will be played on Saturday 24th June at the Roffey Sports and Social Club, Horsham. As in previous years the plan will be to play the opening round of this competition in a group format to give everyone plenty of matches and legs. Entry Forms are attached below and also available on the SCBBA website. Payment details are shown on the form. Eligibility for this event is subject to SCBBA Rule 19 as shown below. "19. Entry to SCBBA Closed events shall be restricted to players who do not represent a County other than Sussex in any AEBBA individual or team event during the same calendar year (Jan – Dec). By taking part in a SCBBA Closed competition, whether or not they have personally signed an entry form, every competitor shall be deemed to have declared that they have not represented, nor will they represent any County other than Sussex in any individual or team event as defined by AEBBA Rule 47 during the same calendar year as the Sussex Closed event they are entering." Congratulations to Mark James on winning the SCBBA Off-the-Spot competition yesterday, beating Martin Cole in a nail-biting finish. Martin had one shot at the 200 hole to tie the match but just missed and Mark sealed the title with his first shot in the 100 hole.
Mark becomes the first player to win this title for the 2nd time, having beaten Dave Ingram in the semi-final while Martin beat Ian Lelliott at the same stage and also took the high break award.
Alan Brackenridge beat Bob Osborne in the final of the Plate, which had a surprisingly strong line up.
Many thanks to Nigel, Stuart C and Matt for organising and running the day, the Roffey Club for hosting us and providing a nice buffet and to all those involved in setting up the tables.

As Dave says a good day with tables presenting different challenges. Well run by Matt, Nige and Stu plenty of games for all and an excellent final.

As has been said congratulations to Mark James on winning the seventh Sussex Off The Spot beating Martin Cole in a very close final. Full results are available on the Sussex Website scbba.co.uk/off-the-spot/off-the-spot-2023/Thank you to Nigel Senior, Jean Brackenridge and Matthew Knight for their help both before the event and on the day. A lot of unseen work goes on to make these events possible and wouldn't happen without these people. Thank you to Stuart Mepham for setting-up the tables and to Stu, John Slee, Iain Tarrant and Steve Hopkins for helping on Friday afternoon in moving the tables into the club. The tables were challenging, but the weather conditions and needing to keep all doors open and fans on certainly meant that they changed during the day. Thank you to the club for hosting us, and to Kirstie and Jean (Junkie's mum) for providing the food. Finally thank you to all the players for supporting the event and making it a good day. |
