Sorry for the late report
Well done to Phil Osborne on completing the weekend double and winning the Brighton Off the Spot to go with his Masters win of the day before. He is in pretty esteemed company! (Nigel might put the other "double" winners on here but he and Jim are certainly two of them, so the company is very esteemed!)
Details from the Quarter Finals onwards:-
Phil beat Dave Ingram, Dave was over 10k in front after his break but a great break leg from Phil saw him home Joe Oakley beat Chris Tupper, nip and tuck on a tough top, Joe clearing all the balls at the end for the win Mark James beat Jim Millward, Mark kept his nose in front the whole way although Jim was going well but he lost his score Matthew Knight beat Nigel Senior, scrappy game with me having more goes on the break
Semi Finals Phil beat Joe, a brilliant comeback from Phil 7k down with under 7 mins to go and got them Mark beat Matt, I was off early and thought that was the end, Mark a couple of breaks to stay in front although neither of us at our best
Final Mark off early, Phil built a good lead with his break to come. He was off early and Mark looked to be taking full advantage but on 6k and pretty much level could only hit an awkward ball to keep his score, Phil made a great clearance and the title was his
In the Plate Final the two guys who did all the heavy lifting over the weekend faced off and it was Stuart Mepham who beat Kevin Hall. Well played and thanks to both of them for all their hard work in getting the tables and other equipment to and from the van
Thanks also to Jim for hosting, Heather for doing the food, Nigel for all his hard work with the formats over the weekend and to Tony Jenner, Sandra Hall and James Whittle for their help taking down the tables and putting all the equipment on the van
Hope everyone had a good day, great to see some newcomers playing
