A post was placed on Facebook lamenting the demise of bar billiards in Crawley, the post has so far had 73 comments and 42 likes. I have replied saying that if people enjoyed the game that much they should do 'their bit' to stop it completely disappearing, I have suggested that anyone wanting to get back into the game could go along to The Windmill GG, or if they wanted we could arrange an evening for interested parties, I said I could probably get someone along to give advice tommo III I will keep an eye on the post and report back here with any news.

Thanks Q, Willing to act as you say, but I doubt if anything will come of it. What is needed really is another pub with a table elsewhere to foster interest.
We did try an initiative a year or two prior to Covid, when there was also a table in the Half Moon which was very popular with several youngsters/family members on Pool match nights: a Pool and B-B challenge was being arranged but then suddenly the table was removed from the Half Moon. Pool remains popular in both pubs, the Windmill has four teams with the landlady participating.
Being such a rarity in Crawley, the bar billiards attracts quite a bit of interest especially on league nights and we always try to answer with helpful comments. We have also hosted Four-Pin matches and have one eye on the Eastbourne thread to see how that develops.
But of prime concern is what will happen next season on Tuesday nights with the Horsham League struggling: if ever a shot in the arm was needed it is in that town, no venues left in the town centre, the only ones being in Roffey, and when the Crawley League disbanded in 1989 there was a strong presence in the surrounding villages. Now the only village pub remaining with B-bs being the Plough.
A sign of the times, sadly.
