The Final week of the league season was a crackerjack with still all to play for. Congratulations to the fixture's compiler for anticipating such an event.
Results April 11th.
BLEP 4 - 2 Henty A.
Both teams found themselves in an unfamiliar position, whatever the result for the home team they would finish up holding the wooden spoon whereas the visitors needed something from the match to avoid the threat of relegation. Singles finished all square, Eric Mole and Pete Norrell winning for the home side with Pete Western and Declan Dynes for the visitors, scores moderate. However, the home team won both pairs ties to win the match and the away side were dependant on other results going their way; Fortunately they did and Declan Dynes side avoided the drop with a higher games for. Not sure what has been missing from the Henty A in recent weeks but it is more than likely they will bounce back next season.
Henty B 3 - 3 Prince of Wales.
The away side needed to avoid defeat to become champions as the only other result would allow the Bees to retain their title and what an event this turned out to be.
Singles games resulting 2 apiece, Stuart Mepham and Ian Lelliott coming good for the home side with Martin Cole and Dan Wheal for the Prince. The home team winning the first pairs game against the break to put them in the driving seat, so everything resting on the final game. Stuart rattled off a steady 7.8k for his opening break which left Chris Cox having it all to do with everything at stake. Chris held his nerve and played probably the performance of the season; playing out the table with a steady 8.4K giving the Prince the title. (TJ also gave a good write up for this match - refer to his thread ,worth a read).
A brilliant match and congratulations to Section A champions, the Prince of Wales.
Locomotive A 3 - 3 White Hart.
The White Hart needed to avoid defeat to become Section B champions but it did not start very well, losing the opening 2 games, Dave Simmonds and Chris Lawman winning for the home side. Ken Williams pulled one back for the Hart before Richard Davey made it 3 - 1 for the hosts. So Ken Williams team needed to win both pairs games to ensure they win the title. All credit to the visitors they managed just that in another thrilling finish to become Section B champions.
Congratulations to Ken and his team.
Vine 3 - 3 Locomotive B
The visitors needed to win this one to have any chance of becoming Section B champions and they meant business by racing into a two - nil lead, Captain Russell Oakes and Clive Mills being the successful players. Next in for the Vine were the two stalwarts Brian Richards and Colin Green respectively, and they made sure this game would also go to the wire, Both winning, Colin making 6k. So all to play for on the doubles games and with the Boys winning the first leg and their break in the last legput them in the driving seats. However they were thwarted as he home pairing of Kristal and Joe narrowly beat James and Dan in a low scoring contest ,resulting in a tied game. Hard luck to the Boys.

Again everything to play for here and with The Henty B playing against the Prince of Wales, several permutations existed. In the end it was decided on the last singles game and the win for Dan Wheal made him this season's top individual ranking winner. Well done Dan.
Dan finished on 26 pts. 3 pts. ahead of last season's winner, Ian Lelliott, with Barry Holt finishing in 3rd. spot on 21 pts. James Whittle finished the top B Section player in overall 8th. on 17 pts.

Final LBBL Event for the season - Finals and Presentation evening.
April 18th. Venue: Locomotive, start time 7:30pm.
I will issue the program in the next few days, I need the singles semi final result between Martin Cole and Barry Holt please.
Could winners of individual and team trophies from last season please bring them along in a clean condition please so that they can be presented on Tuesday evening.
And finally....
As most of you will know this is the last weekly league update report I will be making (hence for the extended version this week) but how fitting it was in the way the league season ended , one of the best week's reporting I have had the pleasure of making. However as we all know this is only possible through the many contributions I have received over the years and for that reason I am greatly thankful.
Hope to meet up with many of you next Tuesday evening.
Thanks Bill.
