Well done to Phil Osborne on winning the Brighton Masters. A good day of bar billiards thank you to all who worked hard to get everything set up. All 4 tables were good but offered different challenges as the day went on. Sure Matt will add a full report.
Looking forward to the Off the Spot today.

Congratulations to Phil Osborne on winning the Brighton Masters, his first individual title in Brighton He was in good form all day, defeating Marcus Chipman, Matthew Knight and Jim Millward on the way to the final and, saving the best until last beating Kevin Tunstall in the final. Kevin (losing the toss) went first and was going well getting pretty easily to 4k before leaving a one-up short. Feeling the nerves a bit Phil had a couple of breaks for not many until settling down nicely and taking a near 4k lead into the second leg with his break to come. He opened with a very solid 6k, rightly taking up plenty time. Kevin did get them back and decided to make sure he ran the table out rather than going hell for leather. With about a minute to go he left the one up short on about 8k, finishing about 1.7k shy. Handshakes followed and Kev was very gracious in defeat, well done to him on finishing runner-up. He still has an incredible Brighton Masters record, finishing either winner or runner-up each time he has entered, apart from once! In his semi-final Kevin had beaten Joe Oakley in a high-scoring match A few thank yous - to Jim and Heather Millward for use of the Stag and supplying the food and for Jim's hard work in helping set the room up. All the heavy lifting and moving was done by Stuart Mepham and Kevin Hall, thank you so much to both of them, the weekend would simply not be possible without your efforts, although I do wonder if people think the tables appear by themselves!! Sandra Hall kept us all in check and offered some great advice too. Thanks to Nigel Senior for the incredible work he puts in behind the scenes on the formats and making sure everything runs smoothly over the weekend and finally thanks to Tony Jenner who, as always, goes over and above with scoring Back to Phil, definitely a win for one of the good guys, driving many miles to support the game, often bringing Dad Bob with him. Nice to see him finally win something for himself, well done mate

Just want to add my congrats to Phil, thoroughly deserved, I had chances but as everyone knows at this level, if you dont take them, you lose. Thanks to all the organisers. Cider went down very well 😉
