We have increased division 1 to 16 and division 2 will now have 21 players. With the 24/25 season moving to 3 divisions. Our new season s scheduled to start on the 12th September. However due to some holidays some games will start next week. Division Two should provide some close and competitive battles this season. As well as the established players who are improving all of the time, three well-known players from the past are making their league comebacks. Namely Andrew Rundle, Pete Lowe and Nick Ogier.

It all kicks off Tuesday. The old rivals face each other once again. Not England v Scotland, but the two veterans Roy Le Page v Norman Wilkinson. All the action takes place at the Ex Service, where the newly promoted and upcoming star Craig Harvey takes on the Summer League winner Ian Champion. Darren Pipet will play Matt Wilcox, and another much-anticipated clash will be the new Guernsey Masters Champion Paul Le Gallez taking on Paul Dyer on his old home table.

The ties at the Ex Service Club didn't disappoint with high drama in each match.
N.Wilkinson 2840, 2180. (5020) Roy Le Page 4260, 2250. (6510) Roy came away with the three points, although it was no cruise. Narrowly winning the second leg and with perfect timing, overtaking my score and potting the white in the 100 to win by 70 points.
Ian Champion 4520, 2080. (6660) Craig Harvey 1160, 250. (1410) The 3-0 win by Champ doesn't tell the full story as the result could have gone the other way. Newly promoted Craig came within a whisker of keeping a 3000+ break in the second leg, which would have given him a 2-1 win on aggregate. He will cause a few upsets this season.
Paul Le Gallez 11,740, 610. (12,350) Paul Dyer 100, 670. (770) A statement of intent by the current Guernsey Masters Champion Le Gallez. Almost played the table out bar the last ball in the first leg with the break, looking very confident throughout. Didi who is capable of matching that break started off well and quicker. However, halfway through the game missed an awkward ball in the centre. I missed watching the last 5 minutes, but I think they both must have blown themselves out and Didi managed to win the low-scoring encounter by 60 points to claim a point.

The third week of fixtures produced some big scores and a few shocks again. Some highlights;
On The Happy Landings 1 table Mat Ogier banged in a 10,450 break in his 3-0 win against former teammate Paul Dyer to top the Division 1 with 8 points.
On The Hampshire Table in Division 2 two of the favourites for promotion clashed, with Andrew Rundle beating Pete Lowe 3-0 with a total score of 10,790.
As usual, the West Legion produced some high scores, notably Ian Champion with 11,850 and it could have been more if he hadn't lost a 5K break. With all three points against Leon Ogier, Champ now moves up to joint second in Division One. Second Division's Claire Gauvin also mastered the table, taking all three points against Len Harvey.
On the Happy Landings 2 table Paul Le Gallez beat the in-form Roy Le Page 3-0 to move up to joint second. Ashley Harrison secured his second successive 3-0 win, beating Geoff Ogier.
With the Fontaine now holding regular league matches, new Landlord James Ferbrache secured his third successive 3-0 win in the second division to top the league with 9 points. Clive Fallaize is currently second with Chris Bourgaize third.

West Legion. Pete Lowe (Second Division) finds some form beating Kyran 3-0 with 6,740 over the two legs.

Week 8 Tuesday 31st October - Results from the Mariners Jury. The Halloween curse visited the venue, as the Timer seemed to give up the ghost before we started. Playing on a table which is almost below sea level 25 yards from the harbour at St Sampsons on the eve of a storm warning would have been riskier the following evening, so we went ahead as planned.
Division One Paul Dyer (0) 1580, 570 Norman Wilkinson (3) 2560 1970 Didi had a nightmare of an evening, and Norman was pleased to win both legs for the 3 points. Division Two. Blake Batiste(2) 2150 1080 Carla Allen (1) 1910 1230. Carla fought back in the second leg to win a well-deserved point. Annie Harvey (0) 1760 2060 Ciaran (aka Kyran) Perkins (3) 1910 2240. Annie lost some big breaks and someone said it was the wind that blew the pegs over. However, the markers' decision was final. Ciaran (3) 2880 2360 Carla (0) 850 1990. Ciaran stormed to the six points total on the night in this re-arranged fixture. Carla was blown away and said she will be on form for Jersey. Whether that means at the Bar or on the Tables remains to be seen.
