A bit disappointing for us, but the 'B's played their table well - especially Melissa in only about her fourth league match.

With both teams getting off to great starts, Salfords Y unbeaten in three and the Nomads sole loss coming against three-time defending champions MVC B, this promised to be a high quality affair. With the table not living up to its usual high scoring reputation this season the players were ready for a scrap, but there was really no need to worry about that in the end... First up Nev took the only break of the night for Salfords and started with just a k. JP struggled to get going, this being drawn first thing isn't working out well, and Nev got the balls back and added 3k. JP still couldn't get them back and Nev this time added 4930 to seal a first leg in the ledger for the home side. 1-0 Next up Michael took his first break of the season and piped yet more misery on poor Anita, who'd scored 14k over her last two games and managed to lose both. Michael missed the red on the opening split, but got them back and from there on 100 split all bar once, when a 50-30 saved the day. 8k and eight mins in he was eyeing up Dave Js high break, DJ was sitting in the scoring chair opposite with a keen eye, but a thin 100 split caused one ball to stay up and Michael decided safety was the better part of valour at the back of the table, coming off with 12380. Anita showed she was still in excellent knick by running the table out for 5080. 1-1 Next up Jim had the break against Karen and he was in showboating mood. Having made his way to 3k a misjudged split rimmed the 50 and flew into the 200, having escaped the black peg Jim immediately took out the peg on his next shot, losing his opener. Karen got them back but could only add a k and after a little battle, Jim cleared excellently and set about making a winning break. Despite shaving the peg on a 50-10 push through and leaving the one-up a mm from disaster, Jim got enough. He even defied the ever growing calls of "good break Jim" from his captain, smirking when he came off have played it out for 4760. Michael's heads finally came out of his hands at the end, thankful that Jemima hadn't reared her ugly head. 1-2 Fourth on Abbey started with a k but Fritz was in no mood to make a game of it. A quick 5k and tap was enough and a further 3k later on added a bit of gloss to his score. Some friendly pegging and near-misses ensued as the game was brought all square. 2-2 So, a decider. With Salfords only having 4 players they had to forfeit the final break regardless, and so Dave had the chance to put the match to bed against the in-form Anita. After hitting his first one up too hard, Dave over-compensated second time round by leaving it short - something Fritz maintains is impossible - and was off on just over a k. Anita though couldn't get them back and Dave knew he couldn't make a mistake this time. He got them straight back and showed all his grafting skills to combine play on the 50 along with 10/20/100 splits to make an excellent frame and match winning break of 8180. With the game settled, the table was loaded and match done. 2-3 So a superb, high scoring match between two teams who could be battling for position come the end of the season. It's good to see the Salfords top back to its usual self, with Tom - famed for his table tips - also expressing his delight that he'd figured it out after a practice before the most recent interleague game. Sadly no further table tips were acquired, but I'm sure he's looking forward to his next interleague outing.

MVC B 2 v 3 MVC A The Village Club derby went to the A's who played very well. Tony lost to Neil Karl lost to Benny, went to the last ball Geoff lost to Chris. 4950 break for Chris, his personal best Gary beat Jeff Tony (4 player) beat Colin The table played well again, Tony got 13k (2 breaks) in the last, following Colin's opening 3k+ break. I got 10k against Jeff in 2 breaks. Our season hasn't started too well, but the opposition seem to be playing very well!! Could be a close season.

Jolly Bricks 1 Spcc A 4
Pete 1220 John 2200 John 3230 Laurie 1090 Mlike 30 Tracy 1220 Bob 1280 Dave 4260 Pete 2220 Junkie 3240 (Pete 4 player)
First up game 2 so John took on Laurie .John's break and a confident start saw him make a 1k break but then off. Laurie's chance but No the balls done everything but go down. John next to get the balls back and added some more. Loz trying all the shots he knew but To no avail totally frustrated and John never looked like giving up his lead and so it was. Oh dear!!
Next on Tracy and Wobbly. Mike's break but soon off and chances for Tracy but no (deja vous) I've seen this before somewhere I thought Not long ago. Loads of goes and pegs for Mike loosing far more than he ended with. Everyone hoping the bar would drop and eventually the Slog was over. 1-1
Next on me and Pete ( for his first go of the night ). Pete on and no prizes for next situation, on I went determined to sort the top out. Ha Ha Pot a few miss a few, peg a few a reocuring theme of the night. Hold the few you score I said to myself. Easier said than done but it just Aabout worked. Would have been nice to have had a crack at the break but hey ho.
4th on DC and Bob . Bob on the break and looking ok if he did leave his one up on the 50 lip. But as all night previous soon off. DC having Plenty of goes to sort top out. With not much in it Bob got the balls back but like before a rocket one up went sailing down . DC handed The break and "Eureka " at long last some sanity. Thin break sensible paced one up and split big smile on CDs face. 3k and off.
Last but not least Junkie and Pete (again). John's break and a useful steady start. Pete learning from earlier playing better and the game Just in Junkies favour he was determined to graft it out exactly what he did.
A good win in the end on a tricky top which Dave showed could be played. Nice evening with Wobbly,John Pete and Bob even if Arsenal and Seville on the tele was deafening everyone.
