Hello,
Nice to meet you all and thanks for accepting my request to join the forum.
My name is Jonathan Hamilton and as it has been said in the Maps thread, we have a brewery in Leith, Scotland called Newbarns which has a Bar Billiards table.
We have been fans of the game since living and brewing in London and playing in tables in pubs such as the Pembury Tavern in Hackney, Dog and Bell in Deptford, and before those the King William IV in Leytonstone as far back as 2012 I believe.
We have always wanted a table for the brewery taproom and so when it came to opening last year we purchased a table off Ebay which was in great working order.
Sadly the timing mechanism failed this year and now the right hand front leg has given way. This is an easier fix and will just need some wood glue and fixed into place but I was looking for advice on how to/where to find someone to fix the timing mechanism.
Any advice for someone located in Scotland? I believe we might only be one of a few tables in Scotland so it might be tricky.
The table is from J Ashcroft and Co.
Thanks Jonny

Hi and welcome.
Could do with a picture of the clock and a description of what it is/is not doing.

From what I can see, when you pull the handle the clock toothed travelling rack next to the pulling handle is being pulled back to its start position OK, but when you release the handle it its returning to its rest position without starting the clock.
Depending on which version the clock is, either the non return ratchet or the clutch on the big wheel has likely gone.
Any self respecting clocksmith should be able to repair that, but get him to clean and check the bushes at the same time, particularly on the big driving wheel.
If you cannot find anyone then see if the clocksmith who used to do my clocks is still operating.
Others may know clocksmiths as well.
Post a picture of the clock faceplate then I'll know which sort it is
