Blue Anchor 3-2 MSC
Joe Oakley 5700 - 3100 Tim Scotney** - Tim opened up with 1700, Joe got them back and off early, made sure next visit
Rick Cunningham 2530 - 2920 Dave Lee** - Rick found a variety of ways to come off but with Dave pegging, was still in front as the bar approached, Dave made 1500 break to level it up
Chris Cox 5900 - 70 Martin Parsons** - Martin pegged pretty much everything, took Chris a while to get them back but made sure when he did with very good 5k
Tony Jenner 10,290 - 3340 Colin Green** - leg of the night, Colin looking good for over 3k but off. The Jenneral in excellent form with a great 7.5k first go and touch, yes you read it right he touched up! Unassailable lead for us
Matthew Knight 390 - 3170 Mick Moore** - Shocking performance from me pegging pretty much every visit. Mick added a few each time to keep his lead. Knight 0 and 2 in Brighton
Good night with the MSC who gave us a tough match - question on everyone's lips, when is Phil Reay going to play????

Ian told you right TJ, classic top of the table match with the home side ending up on the right side of the result
New Oak A 3 - 2 Duke of Wellie
Ian Lelliott 6,590* - 6,550 Mick Winder Phil Osborne 2,870 - 14,960* Kevin Tunstall Marc Chipman 1,500 - 13,190* Mike Daw Martin Smith 8,190* - 1,210 Dave Reeves Nigel Senior 9,890 - 5,360* Chris Tupper
In leg 1, Ian took the break against Mick. A steady 4k opener from Ian before putting the one up behind. Mick got the balls back but could only make 800. All looking good when Ian got the balls back but a miss only got him a lead of 5k and Mick got the break straight back and there were still 8 minutes left. He set about it and was playing nicely and got in front but left the one up short having got 650 in the lead. Ian pots a 50, and the bar drops, then gets a 50-30 to leave the red which Mick had left for a split. A few looks from Ian now 520 behind, and he decided to play the thinnest of cuts to pot the red in the 200. This fell agonisingly short but the white went down the 30. The red was now really on for the 200 and Ian got it with the white ball again down the 30. Break back and 60 behind. In the tray were 2 whites and a bit of a nervy break shot saw both balls creep in to win by 40. 1-0
Leg 2, Phil on next and his presence was enough for KT to put his name down. Kev played the table well as he always does but whipped two hundred splits one of which was very close to the left hand peg, almost identical to one that did peg at the Henty. But he got to 10k to level the match. 1-1
Leg 3 Not sure if it was Marc's presence for game 3, but Kev still felt he had to go strong and put Mike Daw on to play. Mike was good making 8k and there was little Marcus could do to stop the Wellie going in front. 1-2
Leg 4 Our sub for Bob O (gallivanting in Vietnam) was Martin Smith, Now Martin is 0-3 for us this season and the England International and current Northants Open Champ often struggles for the New Oak A. After starting off nicely an odd break shot forced him off on 2k. Dave balls back but a wild split to out the peg. No second chance from Martin and he killed the game off to level the match and lift his New Oak curse 2-2
Leg 5 So with the league very much on the line it would be Tupps and Nige. Tupps has played some decent stuff on here in the past but the table gets tricky by game 5 and Tupps was off early. I got the balls back a nervy couple of splits here and there but made it to 10k. A nice 5k from Tupps at the end proved I needed to take the one chance I got 3-2
So a big match with a a first leg that will live long in the memory. Two games to go, with all 4 premier teams still able to win but realistically it is between the New Oak A (12 wins from 14) and the Wellie (11 wins from 14). Wellie play next in a must win game away to the Stag C, if they win that it is down to the New Oak to win their last 2 matches, both at home against the Moulescoomb Club and the reigning champs the Blue Anchor......
