Duke of Wellington 3-2 Blue Anchor
**Dave Reeves 2280 - 5560 Rick Cunningham - Both players off early, Rick off early when first to get them back. Dave going well on 3.5k, left a ball in the middle, hit it but took out the right hand peg. Rick head down and made very good break to put us 1 up
Mike Daw 5610 - 8520 Chris Cox** - Chris started well but off on 2k, Mike a thick split and off. Great shot from Chris to get the balls back and excellent 6.5k and touch for the win
Kevin Tunstall 10,690 - 4660 James Whittle** - James kindly stepping in for Joe tonight, left both balls short on the break. Kevin got them back and made a brilliant 10,300 break for the win. James added a few on the break
**Mick Winder 6520 - 4660 Matthew Knight - so everyone is now saying "why did Matt not have the break", answered by leaving the first one up short and then knoocking it behind when closing in on Mick's score, that's why! Anyway both off early, Mick got them back and made very good 5k break, I was going pretty well but missed the one-up at a vital moment. Mick finished off a very good leg by him
Chris Tupper 5120 - 4600 - Tony Jenner** - to the decider, TJ off early, Tupps left a difficult ball and missed it. Tony settled down and got to over 4k before missing the 100 on the split and off. Tupps made an excellent 5k with a couple of great recovery shots to complete the comeback for the home team
Well done to the Wellie on their comeback win, always going to be tough for us without Joe but it was definitely one that got away for the defending champs

This match will be known as the Miracle at the Mariner as we somehow came home with a 3-2 win
Master Mariner 2 - 3 New Oak A
Mark Scott 5,920* - 2,040 Marc Chipman DJ Robins 1,290* - 9,420 Ian Lelliott Steve Burns 1,260* - 7,650 Nigel Senior Bob Mechan 4,970* - 1,060 Martin Smith Bob Mechan (4P) 5,010 - 5,450* Phil Osborne
In leg 1, Marc already complaining before a ball struck that he had been thrown under the bus as he had to play Moppy. Moppy went off with a 1,000, Marc then pegged his opener, Moppy made another 1,000, matched by Marc, then Moppy sealed the win. To be fair to Marc he was playing with tire marks on his back 1-0
Leg 2, Not many from the opening visits about 500 a piece before Ian settled down to make 2 good breaks and levelled the match 1-1
Leg 3 Steve off early and despite table advice from Ian I only made 1,500 when I got the balls back. I then played the 2nd best shot of the night to get the balls back settling down for a 5jk winning break 1-2
Leg 4 Bob playing his own top very well went off with 3k and Martin had no luck and we were level 2-2
Leg 5 Phil's break against Bob as Mariner only 4 players. Phil went off with a nice 3.7k break, but Nob came back with 4.5k when he got the balls back 10 mins in. Phil one last chance and onto the best shot of the night. Ball by the 30 hole, Phil rammed it, 30 in, the other one whipped the 10 and went down the 100 at breakneck speed. Drama not over as Phils match winning split whipped the 100 and went down the 20. Balls cleared to win by 440. Maybe its our year? 2-3
Competitive match and good night with the Mariner, they will be tough to beat at home.

Moulsecoomb club 0 stag C 5
Martin 1270 Grant 3760 Dave 3220 Boball 4880 Tim 1600 Kev 3390 Mike 2540 Stuart 5700 Darren 1700 Jim 2650
Game 1 Martin off on around 800 GT struggled to get going but once in front never looked like losing some quality back of the table play
Game 2 Dave lee out of sorts today and a solid 3k break mid game sealed the win
Game 3 Tim put his first 1 up behind and Kev balls back and set about 25k but leaving the 1 up short doesn’t help but always in front
Game 4 this game had more balls back than any other game I think Stuart must have been close to 5 times but was far too good tonight
Game 5 Jim can’t get the balls back ever but tonight he showed us that’s all in the past as he got the balls back but also off early but stayed in front
Excellent evening tonight and a nice start to the league
