Just joined the forum after 'rediscovering' bar billiards. Used to play during my misspent student days many years ago when tables were more regularly found in pubs. Having not seen a table for many, many years, we had a family holiday this year and the house we rented had a table. After a week, we were all a bit addicted so I decided to get rid of our pool table, which was never used, and replace it with a bar billiards table. Didn't want anything too expensive as it is living in a garden room, but found a Supreme table in pretty good condition. Once connected back up, the electronic timer works perfectly (and my wife prefers it because the ticking clockwork mechanism on the one in the holiday house irritated her!!). I know this is probably not the best of tables, but it has levelled perfectly and we are enjoying the table very much. Now the kids have left home, I had nobody to play pool with, but my wife and friends seem to play bar billiards - I think it is due to age and being able to play standing on the spot :-) This forum has been useful already - I found a pdf of the settings for the timer DIP switches - many thanks. The only thing I want to do at the moment is change the side cushions - one of them is so hard, it may as well just be wood. So, if anyone knows how to remove the side cushions from a Supreme table and/or can offer any suggestions on the type of rubber/cloth to use to replace them, I would be very grateful. I have already been able to take the top off and can see the rails can be separated by undoing the bolts on the four corners - the slate is completely separate and the cloth is in good condition - so don't need to touch that - am hoping I can re-use the cushion fabric so that everything matches up again - dreaming? Best James

Welcome James sure one of those who are more learned than me on such things as changing cushions will offer their advise

Quick update so as not to waste anyone's time.
I discovered this morning that getting the cushions off is remarkably straight forward. Once the rails are separated out, I just had to remove some staples and the rubbers are then fixed to the rail with bolts through the upright part of the L.
So its just where to get the rubber really - I measured and the current ones seem to be circa 35mm in both directions. Best James

Hi James, Is that 35mm for just the rubber or for the rubber and I assume wooden rail as well. Not having seen a supreme cushion I don't know it's construction. A photo whould help. 35mm seems very large if it is just the rubber. Also, have you tried contacting Supreme. I buy pool table cushions direct from them.

Hi Dave
The 35mm was a red-herring, it was the size on the table including felt and rails!!
Now I have them all off, the rubber is actually 8mm x 13mm. The rails are MDF and have an 8mm rebate at the top to take the rubber.
After much fishing around and reading, I have bought 5/8 inch L- shaped Peradon Rubber. I managed to buy a set of 3 6ft strips, so no need to splice.
Because these won’t fit to the old rails (I would have to fill the rebate and the play area would be narrowed), I have cut new rails from hardwood. Just waiting for some billiard rubber cushion cement to arrive - not sure if this is necessary, but don’t want to risk the job with another adhesive.
Felt came off the rails ok and I am hopeful I can re-use.
If pictures of the rail structure would be useful to anyone - I can post a couple of (reduced in size :-)) pics on here.
Best
James

P.S. the contact details for Supreme might be useful - I couldn’t find a website for them?

heywoodpool.co.uk
I find best to phone them, and despite the website looking old and perhaps not in use, I brought a set of pool cushions from them last month.
Sounds like you have it sorted. Good luck.

Just to close this one off. New cushions and rails fitted. I used new baize in the end. While I had the top off, I reinforced the corners and added some clips down the edge. I was concerned the long sides, which are not fixed along their length, would flex when hit by a ball. With the hard wood rails and new rubber, it is now now very solid and playing like a new table - . Best James
