Surprise result last night at the New Oak as the two unbeaten teams went head to head.
New Oak A 5 - 0 Stag C
Ian Lelliott 9,460* - 3,460 Jim Millward Nigel Senior 7,000 - 3,400* Grant Tully Marc Chipman 7,530 - 5,970* Stu Mepham Phil Osborne 13,560* - 130 Bob Hall Bob Osborne 5,470 - 2,660* v Kev Hall
In leg 1, Plenty of years of experience was on show as Ian took on Jim. Ian opened with 4k only to miss both balls on a 100 split. Jim gets them back but took on a 20 split which popped leaving him 1k behind. Then a couple of goes each but it was Ian whoi got the balls back and made 4k for the win, 1-0
Leg 2, Grant off early on 1,300 but made a great clear and got 3k going only to lose them with a whipped 100 split. Nige gets the balls back and made 7k to take a game against the break 2-0
Leg 3 Chippers who even had a bit of practice before this big game played against Stu. Stu off early on 2k, and Chippers was awesome making 5.5k then another 2k. Stu then made an easy 4k at the end but ran out of time. No more needs to be said about Chippers performance but it is made more impressive given Stu made the highest opening break of 2k that anyone has made against Marcus this season. And he didnt make me catch the bus home in storm Cieran 3-0
Leg 4 Phil gave Bob a sniff going off with 6k, no balls back for Bob. Phil showed his ruthless side making another 7k. 4-0
Leg 5 Kev struggled all game and Bob who has been in good form played well again to seal the whitewash 5-0
We no doubt had the run of the balls to complete the win (ian, Phil and Bob all made interesting use of the 100 hole on the night).
Good banter all night with the Stag guys and we stay unbeaten (and probably will until we get to the Moulescoomb Club). Have the Stag C ever LOST a match 5-0?????

Mariner 3-2 MSC
Steve 2950* - 1840 Dave DJ 2380 - 3300* Tim Moppy 6810 - 6920* Colin Bob 5870* - 2860 Phil Gaz 4160 - 1230* Martin
Good night at the Mariner in a close match. Game 3 being the highlight of the evening Colin opened with 6140 in around 10 mins. Mop then gets balls back to make 6810. Colin gets back on as bar drops and wins with the last ball in 100.
2 wins in a row for Mariner after an unfortunate start. Happy no game next week as i will be in Amsterdam with around 10k other Brighton fans sampling the delights it has to offer.

Blue Anchor 4-1 New Oak B Matthew Knight 7030 - 5520 Jean Brackenridge** Joe Oakley 5770 - 4740 Lorraine Hall** Rick Cunningham 6150 - 4040 Alan Brackenridge** Tony Jenner 2630 - 5620 Stuart Carruthers** Chris Cox 7070 - 1400 Sandra Hall** Excellent win for us against tough opponents. First two legs could have gone either way with both ladies playing well and building good leads but both Joe and I caught them in the last minute or so to put us 2-0 up. Big Al a bit out of form in the third leg and Rick's 4k break enough. Tony unfortunate in leg 4 as, despite Stuart's good start, TJ was well in control when the ball moved off the spot and he pegged on the the one-up. Chris dominated the last leg, winning despite the opposition captain being extremely "naughty" and Chris nearly pegging when touching up Very good night in excellent company
