New Oak A take another step towards the title, but the Mariner will rue missed opportunities New Oak A 4 - 1 Master Mariner Ian Lelliott 9,750 - 3,770* DJ Robins Phil Osborne 10,160 - 2,410* Mark Scott Marc Chipman 4,760 - 590* Steve Burns Bob Osborne 12,400 - 0* Bob Mechan Nigel Senior 5,060 - 9,200* Gary Mechan In leg 1, Ian took on DJ. DJ went off with a very decent 3,000 looking comfortable. Ian got the balls back and could only make 1,000, but he was first to retrieve them making 4k putting him in the lead. There was enough time though for DJ, but he could not get the balls back to get the chase started. 1-0 to the Oak Leg 2, Moppy to break against Phil determined to prove how much he likes his own interleague table. He pegs his opening break shot by managing to put the red through the left hand peg. Phil given the balls back but could only make 600. Moppy surely now would punish, but makes just 2k. Phil does punish, with 9k and the New Oak 2up. 2-0 Leg 3 The return of Chippers saw him play Steve Burns. Chippers still nursing a bad back he told me in the van on the way up, but had earlier in the day 'been up a ladder' so his injury was greeted with some skepticism by the rest of the team (well me and Ian). However we did believe he must have been injured when he could only muster breaks of 2k, 1k and 1k. Luckily this was enough as Steve pegged all his breaks (around 5k in total) which gave Marcus his comeback win. 3-0 Leg 4 Bob playing Bob. Bob M was off early and then we were treated to an absolute masterclass from Bob O. An effortless 9k first effort secured the leg. He wasnt finished there, and with Banarama's I want you back playing in the background (it was not me singing that to Chippers it was on the jukebox) Bob makes another 3k to end up on 12,400. This bloke as been a different player since Tim Scotney made him angry at the Caxton 4-0 Leg 5 So Nigel was all set to complete the whitewash and felt ok when getting the balls back after Gaz's opening 2.5k. However a dodgy split on 5k saw Nige come off, and then Gary proceeded to make a very nice despite one dodgy split 6k (dont mind you doing that to me when we are 4-0 up Gaz ) 3-2 Good win for the New Oak against a potential banana skin, another potential one in a couple of weeks away to the Bevy. Thanks to Mariner for a good night

Blue Anchor 3-2 Duke of Wellington
**Rick Cunningham 5280 - 2910 Dave Reeves - Good 4.8k opener from Rick. A number of chances for Dave but he was not at his best. Rick even had the luxury of losing a 3k break near the end
Chris Cox 2220 - 14,970 Kevin Tunstall** - excellent 9k opener from Kev minus one split with the ball ending in front of the 100, but well cleared. Decided to play a straight 50 with about 8 mins to go but missed and Coxy did get them straight back but with time tight off soon after. Kev got more to level it up
Joe Oakley 8360 - 4230 Chris Tupper** - 3.8k opener for Tupps looking comfortable but missed both with a thick split. Joe a couple of outrageously attacking shots to get them back. He didn't look particularly comfortable on the one up and mainly 10 splits, off on 5.1k so a case of who got them back first, Joe did to give us a 2-1 lead
**Matthew Knight 5530 - 6540 Mike Daw - I was looking comfortable to 5.2k but a thick split and off. Messed around for a while, Mike first to get them back and despite struggling with the one up dug in and played it out to the bar to send the match to a decider
Tony Jenner 7980 - 2680 Mick Winder** - Both off early and with Mick first to get them back it looked like a case of another decider victory for the Winder. Not to be this time as despite building a good lead the real Tony Jenner turned up and made an excellent 6k, with not a moments alarm, and touch to give us the win
Bit of a topsy turvy match with a few chances on offer and we made the most of them for a good win. Excellent night in good company with all good natured banter and plenty of mickey-taking, never a dull moment with Smithy in town to offer his team support.
