SPCC B 1 - MVC B 4 A great night with the South Park B's as always. Table was playing very well. Mick beat Colin. Mick's opening break was enough to win. Genette lost to Bud - 2 steady breaks from Bud just enough to win a close a game. Pete lost to Tony - Tony's break enough to win. Denise lost to Gary - D had a couple of goes, but I managed a steady 7k to win. D got close, but the bar beat her. Genette (4 player rule) lost to Geoff - Geoff's opening break was enough.

Match report unusually abridged as I was "Awal" battling a chest infection. Best second hand knowledge from Dick.
Not the best of starts from us going 2-0 down against "A renown very steady home team. Loz and Dc losing respectively to Neill and the Welsh Wizard. Time for a change of luck, and a real close one won by Ricky at the death. Enter Captain to hopefully level things. Chris off early and Tracy 4k and touch enough 2-2. Finale and decider. Colin looked the likely Winner but Junks never quite knows when he's beat And a typical last 3k break nicked it.
A very good result for us from 2 down. Episode 2 Thursday night on South Park as we catch up postponed game. Giving 5 breaks away on South Park won't be easy. Watch this space.

As the new year rolled around the Old Oak, who have struggled away from their home fortress, faced off against the only team to go to their place and come away with a victory. With both teams ready to play ahead of the scheduled kick-off, but Clive still on his way, game number two acted as the opener of the night. Nick started with two breaks and one-up, but from there the balls got away from him and he was off. Abbey mopped up and went about building a lead but on 1.2k she left a ball behind the 20. Just touch up and Abs would have a handsome lead, but she just missed it off the cush and Nick was back at the table. Nick punished this mistake by clearing up and adding another 600 points to build his lead to more that 1000. From their the game went back and forth with both players adding a few but sadly Abs got the balls back too late and Nick gave the visitors the lead. 0-1 Next up, James took on Clive in what was an excellent contest. James opened with 1.5k but an awkward ball behind the 30 saw James lose his score. Second time though James made no mistake by adding 1.5k but Clive wasn't going to roll over. The balls were back but the table was tough and Clive was off on just 600. After a bit of a ding-dong at the back Clive cleared up and made an excellent 2.8k before running out of position and wisely touching up. James played a masterly/lucky (take your pick) shot to clear all three balls in one shot and set about the chase. Captain Michael thought he needed just over a k to win, but the scoreboard had Clive 2k up and that led to some confusion when James played the time up to be 700 down, rather than safe with a 300 lead. So a mix of emotions - euphoria followed by shock - as the Nomads saw themselves slip to the brink of defeat. 0-2 Third up Charlie and Michael faced off in a repeat of last-years bruising encounter, with plenty of jibes about who would be buying the drink after! Charlie was off on 300 and Michael replied with 1.5 before a "very safe" attempt at the 100 which proved to be a touch up. From there on a friendly game ensued with plenty of friendly laughs along the way. 1-2 So the Nomads were on the board but two tricky fixtures were to come. First up JP took on Paul but started with just 300. Paul couldn't get going though and JP was the one to get the balls back to add 1k to his score. Paul still struggled with the back of the table playing funny buggers, and JP took full advantage by getting the balls back and making an excellent 2k break to seal the leg and bring up the Desmond (Tutu). 2-2 So, the decider. Martin had beaten Dave in the opening league fixture of the year and Dave was in no mood to let Martin do the double. When the Old Oak captains opener was lost, Dave saw his opening and, at the second attempt, he got them back and added 1.5k before misjudged 20 split saw him off. Martin just couldn't get going though, with pegs and misses plaguing him and Dave took full advantage to add another 3k to seal the leg and match for the Nomads. 3-2 So a result that may not prove satisfactory to either team, the Oak would have fancied themselves to chalk up an away win win 2-0 up, whereas the Nomads missed a chance to extend their lead at the top with the four teams below them all facing off. A good night overall though and good to get back to the baise.
