Horley CC 3, Old Oak 2 *Nev 930, Nick 1500 (Nick's good form continues ...) *Aaron 6590, Clive 310 (double deja vu for me, Aaron the bandit again with break on his own table like season before last. I say 'double' 'cos exactly the same thing happened this season and two years ago with MVCA's Neil Palmer. ) Chris 850, *Rebecca 540 (could have won if the red had stayed up ... never mind, Chris had lost as many again on top) Alex 5730, *Charlie 1260 (as one might expect, Alex his usual imperious self) *Roland 1120, Martin 6630 (Roland strangely subdued, whilst our captain played out of his skin to earn us that much-needed second point)

Salfords A 0 Spcc A 5
Linda 1340 John 4510 Yvonne 1070 Ricky 3330 Les 950 Tracy 2880 Teri 1810.. Dave 4360 Linda 1740 Junks 3910
First up Me and Linda with Linda's start. Linda starting well till an unlucky peg and score lost. A bit of tip tap and I cleared the balls. Going along OK till I missed a split and off. Back to the top of the table and plenty of goes each. Eventually I got them back again and Grafted out a 3k break. 0-1
Next on Ricky and Yvonne. Yvonne finding the break But off fairly soon gave Ricky a early chance. Similar to me though and off on A wayward split. Again a top of the table struggle till Ricky settled the leg with a steady break
Next up Tracy and Les. Les with the break a bit of a heavy one up and down giving skipper the balls back. Tracy starting ok but like The rest of us soon off. Game ended up a very scrappy affair which Tracy made sure late on.
Fourth on and Dcs nightmare draw coming to pass .You've guessed against Teri and she started pretty well. A few nervous shots And the game was pretty equal. Eventually Dave got the balls back halfway through and a steady 3k break was enough.
Last but not least Linda again and Junkie. Junks hasn't played a lot recently but started confidently. The leg then got a bit bogged Down with small visits. Again as before tonight lots of goes till Junkie made a few at the end.
A lovely evening with the girls and Les and 5-0 was a bit harsh given a different roll of the dice. Dave's top a little tricky tonight with Nobody getting a hold of it. Thanks Sheila for a lovely spread to round the evening off.

With the season nearing its close the Nomads went to their home venue of the Garland rather relieved that it was their last home game of the year, but Sergeant Wilson had given hope of a good night.. reporting back that he'd whacked in 16k in 14 minutes on the Monday evening, surely a good sign! Perhaps he shouldn't have let that on to his team though, he needed to someone to ask "is that wise, sir?" To his dismay Sgt Wilson found the table had been moved and despite attempting to get it back to a good standard his efforts were unrewarded. He therefore went ahead with trepidation but Jeff contriving to miss his second break shot gave an immediate opening. It wasn't first time, but after a few goes Michael got the balls back but he was off on under a k after under hitting the break once too many times and failing to recover. Jeff then did most of the running but he found ways to take a variety of pegs out. He even managed to get the break back but when potting 50s one ball whipped out and ended up nestled on the black! Next shot it went over and Michael chipped away very slowly, holding on to his lead for a rather grim win. 1-0 After that dreary display Colin showed it perhaps wasn't quite as bad as Michael made it look. An excellent opener of 2.3k only ended with a misjudged split. From there JP looked determined to knock out all the pegs from the Garland to Gravesend but he was first to get the balls back... after all that grafting though he left both balls up and Colin set about making his lead unassailable and giving the visitors a crucial leg in their race for the Div B title. 1-1 Third on was Dave, who'd been lured from his Viking longship with the promise of a good table!! The Warrior though was brought out on false pretences and so had to use all of his grafting powers and Wizardly wonders to get him past Benny, who'd already got enough points to seal the Div B Player of the Year title. Benny struggled initially and Dave got the balls back quickly, amassing 1.5k before leaving the one-up hanging on the lip of the 50. Benny was struggling to start with, but midway through he burst into life. He built up a break of 2k and was going along nicely when he left the split perfect... but the white whipped and took out the peg. Back to square one. Dave seemed to have lost the momentum and Benny was going well again, putting up 2k to sneak into the lead with the bar due before an errant break shot saw him come off. After a couple of misses each the bar went and Dave was 130 behind. A lovely 100 shot as well as some good shots down the back meant Dave was now 130 up with the last ball left - good job he knew where it was! 2-1 Next up Max took the sole break of the night for the home team, knowing he wouldn't get such luxuries next season. With Hitman Holts words ringing in his ears, he vowed not to let go of the cue during his breaks. His opener was 2k, a little more pace required on the one-up to leave the split nicer. Max never looked like losing, almost clearing the table with some excellent shots and plenty of patience, something he was telling himself to be, but for the table to play tricks and "go the other way". He didn't lose his rag though, and soon after got the balls back and made an immaculate 3k and tap to show the table was playable if you put your head down. 3-1 Last on was the ever intriguing Jim Jekyll and Jemima Hyde combo. Despite suffering a first loss to the Warrior in three at the weekend, Jim Jekyll's spirits were high and he overcame any attempts from Jemima to take over. A steady game with one of the most incredibly thin break shots I've seen was never really in doubt. Jim held the lead throughout after Grahame had left both balls short on his opening break shot. 4-1 So a tough evening and a result that very much flattered the home side, only Max looked truly convincing in his win. The away sides hopes of taking the Div B title were also dented, just the one point means that they will have to hope that the Old Oak fortress is broken by Salfords A next week. Any win would guarantee the Old Oak the title (unless Horley CC manage to whitewash Salfords B). The search RDBBLs next Division B champion, is nearly over.
